Questing & Torsos section

I used to run two threads in the section but eventually asked for one to be locked because I felt it wasn't right.

Why? Because there are two sections for the exact same thing. People do this because the first section doesn't specify what can be posted there.

I'm tired of having to deal with half of the people in the market not even seeing my thread because of this. Would it not be easier to treat the first section as a directory (Only stickies and links to sections within) and then have two subsections. One for Rs3 and one for Runescape 2007?

It could take a while to go through the threads and organise them into the correct section but it'd be much cleaner and you wouldn't see so many threads. It'd be easier for a newcomer to find long-standing traders for those services without the multiple threads. Plus when you go onto most threads titled as 07/Rs3, they don't even offer Rs3 services. Kinda rough if you're looking to buy Rs3 related stuff.

Edit: Still happening. I'd be happy with a sticky in the section stating only Rs3 services in the first section, and another in the 07 section saying only 07 services. Some rules on thread titles not stating anything related to 07 & torsos (Nobody will ever buy a torso in Rs3) in the Rs3 section would be much appreciated, since that'd make people actually have to enter the 07 subsection.

 

i completely agree, same for the Skilling services same concept. Both subforums need to be whiped and combined, doesnt make a difference except for more traffic for the thread owners

 

I don't see any harm in making sub sections for each respectively. It's just up to staff to see if it can be supported/needed.

I think that anyone who has topics in both, and is realistically only offering 07 services and doesn't even say anything about Rs3 services (posted in Rs3 section) should get slapped with a nice infraction.

I think they do need to be completely separate to avoid shit like that, cause less then a hand full of people actually offer for BOTH versions of RS.

But then I think they need more mods

Yeah, I complained about this in the past; can't find the thread but whatever. iirc, I was told that if I was actually doing activities in my thread that fell into all the subcategories we have subforums for, I could post a very similar, but not identical thread, in each subforum. The number of people with AIO or rs3/07 threads that say "not taking 07 orders atm" every you message them is waaay too high...

 

Would a sticky "This section is for Runescape 3 services, for 07 services use the subsection" work for your problem?
If this, or any other title would work please do say so I can discuss it with staff and get it made

 

To me, that would work so long as it is enforced and existing threads would be moved where appropriate (and then the user could choose which thread to bump). A second subsection would be nicer, but i'd happily take a sticky if a second subsection isn't a practical solution.

 

I don't see 2 subsections being needed because the main section is obviously (to me atleast) meant to house any and all RS3 services that apply.

 

I'm seeing it that AIO services would advertise that they operate both Rs3/07 in the title in the first section, before potential customers enter the 07 subsection where smaller traders who don't yet operate across both servers can be found.

 

Maybe just require that all AIO services go in the rs3 forum, only allow pure 07 threads in the 07 subforum, and lock threads that are posted in both?

 

AIO threads would still advertise 07 services before potential customers saw smaller non-AIO traders, so that wouldn't solve that issue. Perhaps just a section rule on not advertising 07 in thread titles of the Rs3 section, and vice versa?#

Thread content could be the same for ease of creating services but you'd not have people clicking on your services for something that doesn't fit in the section you posted it in.

 

When I need 07 services I go to the 07 service section. I don't support locking the threads that are in both respective sections.

I thought we were talking about splitting up Questing and Torso section lol.

 

The torso section isn't busy enough to warrant it being separate from questing. Maybe 10-15 orders in the section per week max for BA, the rest of it is questing.

 

Yeah, but OP is about the rs3/07 divide as well (probably more than the questing/torso divide). I can't really think of a solution that prevents separate, identical threads with "rs3" and "07" swapped out except for drastic (and hard to police) things like limiting bumps for both forums to 8 hours combined so people can't bump identical threads thrice per day. I see why my earlier suggestion was denied lol

 

I would be perfectly fine with identical threads with Rs3 & 07 swapped out. The reason that I lose customers is that people buying 07 don't even make it to the 07 section because of threads in the Rs3 section that they have to go through advertise what they need before they have any chance to see my services. Yes there are people who will go into the 2007 section, but there are also people who just look for the first 'reasonably trusted' service thread and use that.

More specifically there is nobody on Sythe which does Rs3 BA services, yet AIO services are currently allowed tag their BA services (on 07) in the Rs3/07 questing thread's title. That's where I'm losing my customers and it would be the same for any other trader which does not want to operate on a large scale across multiple markets.

 

Bump. Two weeks on and I'm still seeing potential customers posting for 07 services in what would be assumed as the Rs3 section.
