Sythe and staff

The staff team is doing very well when it comes to activity and I greatly appreciate that. The community of this site owes appreciation and thanks towards the staff team for all that they do. However, it appears that quantity is valued more than quality. If possible, I am requesting that the staff team slow down a little and give more thought before taking action. There have been multiple instances of this but I have one example in particular.

I reported Yousuck for changing his thread to include the word "scammer" in his title. Normally I would just ignore it, but he is constantly changing it and enough is enough. I figured I would report it rather than bitch about it.

Unfortunately, with the priority of quantity over quality, my report was brushed aside almost instantaneously.



Maybe I need glasses but the title appears to include the word "scammer", which @Sythe has deemed against the rules. I would have preferred to PM the staff member directly, but I wasn't able to find the staff member who handled my report. I'm sorry about making this a public thread but I think it's in the best interest of this site to change its current approach.

Anyway, I'm grateful that we have such a active staff team that is open to feedback and change. I hope there are no hard feelings and no one takes offense.

Agree the staff are doing a good job over all.

But I've noticed on occasions reports are responded to; and states "handled", but nothing is actually done with the report. >.> I've had to report certain things again for that reason.

 

Current staff is aids, period.

Allowance of people who take care of ALOT of reports etc, but with flawed judgement is terrible.
Some of the new mods are entirely biased and it still shows through in some decisions being made and new implementations to the site.

I agree in full that it is currently a "Do 1,000 reports incorrectly to get it off our plate in 1 hours" rather than "Do 1,000 reports correctly in 2 hours" mentality.

 

The whole reason my situation even started by having me be banned was because I hosted a giveaway and two people who didn't win created threads within the report section titled Lean is a scammer, this wasn't even in the spam forum like your example was and two mods denied my report when I reported it asking to have the word scammer removed. If it wasn't for inconsistency I would have never been banned in the first place.

 

I handled that report and the title when I opened the thread did not say scammer which is why I didn't take action on the report.

I'm aware the report itself had the title "Gun is a scammer", but upon actually viewing the thread it was something along the lines of scumbag; perhaps I mis-read it, or just completely missed it. If scammer was in the title (which it apparently was and didn't see it for whatever reason), I would of edited it out and not left it as it was (as per Sythe rules).

Edit: Also, I was under the impression resolution status's involved the moderators name who handled the report. Since it seems this isn't the case, it would be great if it could be implemented.

 

No, you need to say "-Tmoe" at the end of your reports or no one will know who did what. I know most mods don't sign off on their reports so I don't know how the community is supposed to give ample feedback since now the only thing that people see are Scam reports / pardons.

 

Especially with no archive now. So you cant see how many somebody does to leave them feedback on their activity.

 

I was unaware, I assumed the notification response also included my user. I for one will be signing off on all my reports from here-on-out.

wouldn't you just report it again and ask it be moved to the other thread? rather then deleted.

 

That's reporting someone else's post, but it seems it no longer matters where we ask people to vouch?

 

Has that ever mattered? I was never specific to ask for vouches on say vouch thread, so why would it matter if it's just a buying/selling thread difference?

 

It matters greatly for those who actually trade on Sythe. There was a huge debate and plenty of people got infracted for doing so. Now mods are rejecting and saying it's okay? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

 

I've gone ahead and moved the post to the proper thread and it's possible the mod that handled it understood the report as requesting a deletion opposed to moving it (no new thread URL or anything was provided).

Either way, it's been moved now

 

@Tmoe you're a great guy and an awesome moderator. I am not trying to bash anyone, no one deserves that. I understand that the staff team volunteers their time and effort to make this site better and I'm thankful for the team. If I could change anything, I would like to see reports and pardons handled with a little more care. I believe that if the staff takes the time to take care of the community, the community will appreciate and respect the site and staff more.

 

All staff handle reports differently. Some staff ignore it and reject it cause they don't want to deal with it, other staff take their time and do what's best for the report.

Pretty much the same thing with pardons. Some staff decide to look into it and see what has been done for efforts, other staff just say no right away due to it being a specific person.

At some point staff does need some sort of consistency.

 

i think your points about quantity > quality absolutely hold true, now more so than ever before. staff is at its largest yet increasingly relies on fewer and fewer people not so much out of necessity as of overeagerness

Just to add onto this because this is something that has always bothered me and I've done it before so I'm not trying to point any fingers here..

I'm tired of seeing one word replies on peoples pardons. It irks me to see a mod type "Support" or "Don't Support" without any kind of input as to why they're even posting. I see this all the time and it makes me believe that staff don't even read peoples pardons and literally just type in anything because maybe they're friends posted. I think they should be taken more seriously and with more care. I've seen numerous threads where users will post what seems like an entire essay and they get one word responses.

Another example would be @SuF's mod application. Almost nobody read it and if I'm mistaken less gave him feedback other than "You're being bitter". I think it would be in the staffs best interest especially when reviewing someones application to take in everything, assess whether or not they're a good candidate and give them proper feedback as to why they're not fit for a position.

 

Definitely agree with Gohan here, I tend to take the time to read lengthy posts etc because I like to type those lengthy posts too, I expect people to read it, and if I expect it then they expect it too. The only way you can ensure you have read it is by giving actual feedback in response.. if I can do this just by being in CDT (on apps etc), then sure as hell can the staff when they deal with much more important things. To be honest a lot of people do this, not even just staff, just a lazy trait and it shouldn't be something staff should be doing.
