tl;dr - Jagex will look into your account's history, upon request, and determine who the original owner is based on ip logs etc. Once they decide who they believe the real owner is, they will wipe all past security information from the account and relinquish it to the original owner.

Could this have an impact on the accounts market? It's not like people weren't able to recover accounts back before, but this seems like it just got a ton easier to do so.

What we will do:

When we look at accounts posted on here we will always side with the person who we believe is the true account owner – so if you have bought or been given an account by someone else then this isn’t the place to make the account more ‘yours’ by having old information removed, in fact we will probably remove your info instead and make the account more strongly tied to the original account owner. For this reason please be sure that you have a strong claim on any account you post here!

Also we should say that this thread is only a trial for now and may not become permanent, but if it does seem useful we may look to introduce something more permanent soon.


How the account is secured:

After looking into your account we may feel it is necessary to lock the account, which just means the account can’t be used until the account owner has completed a recovery request. This isn’t a punishment, it’s just a good way of getting the true account owner back in control – and bear in mind that we won’t lock every account we look at, just those where we can see the account holder needs some help regaining ownership.

We may also decide to pass the account on to our specialist moderators who will look into the account situation. The ‘account clean’ team are experts at spotting things that are not quite right on an account – and have the tools to remove information linked to accounts which has been added by hijackers/sharers. Once this is done, the account is much more secure – because even if the hijacker/sharer tries to recover the account – the information they provide will have been removed from the account – and their request will appear to be very weak when compared to the true account owner.

I Bought an acc recently

i used to be able to recovery it using a combo of the previous owner's info + the 1 i had


i posted on that thread , now i can only do it using 100% info i got from previous owner.
 
Account trading has never been safe.

Were there is money there are scammers, were there are scammers there is money to be made.

Sounds Ok, Just hope that it doesnt get Locked...

Is it just me or can I see a lot more "account sales" to come?

This is actually good for me in a sense that one of my accounts was hacked back in the day, may actually have a chance of recovering now.
 
There is always a risk in buying/selling accounts. Always.

a guy buys an acc and owns it for 3 months , gets 99s and makes money

owner recoveries it , posts there , gets the guy who used it for past 3 month's info deleted and has bank loot lol
 
how exactly would they do this? would they check the earliest IP address log in for the account? Im the original owner of my account and what if Im not at the original Ip anymore? If I do submit a request, what if they wipe out all the info and make it impossible for the ownership of my account?
 
also, how exactly would they determine if you are the true owner? I mean i dont think IP addresses itself can prove that
