I took it my first year in university and wish I had taken java instead. Actually the year later my university scrapped the course and replaced it with a java course lol.

Python is a great introductory language. Java is good (teaches you the principles of "object oriented programming" <<< LOOK THAT UP) but python may be easier to understand if you have trouble with java.

the school i went to started us out in java and they switched to starting students in python, though im glad i started in java

Python is fantastic. Truly cross-platform and introduces you to the necessity of third party libraries that you'll need in other languages like C and C++. Java is...Okay...But it's slow and not truly cross platform. Most people on Sythe will likely tell you Java is better over Python, just because pretty much everything related to Runescape is Java (for now - RS3 is all HTML5/JS), but honestly for practical application I'd choose Python over Java. In the long run it'd be best if you could just learn both.

Python is great, it's very simple and easy to read and write. If you're new to programming I'd defiantly recommend python.
If you're going to be building programs with fancy GUIs and stuff Java and C++ might be better. Eventually you'll have to learn Java and C++ as well.

When i was in school they where teaching Python. It's very easy to learn and once you learn the basics when the time comes you want to learn another language it becomes a lot easier.
