The never-ending excuse of Dont have time

Browsing this section I see tons of great suggestions that could greatly improve the site. It could improve in multiple areas, such as appeal to people browsing, bring in donations to keep the site going, as well as make a community that carries a part of all of us.

Now, the most common reason suggestions are denied is that the administrators don't have the time to do it, and can't find it relevant enough to implement.

Sythe.org advertises the suggestion forum as "Want to see something changed" Now, if you're going to deny a suggestion because it's too difficult, why not change it as "Post an important change that's worth our time".

Now, I have a few ideas for this.

1) Make a very large to-do list. To start, analyze suggestions by if it would actually benefit the forum, if so, add it to the list. If not, problem solve and see if there is a good idea behind the awfully worded thread. And if not, rid it.

2) Hire a web dev team, they're cheap, they're professional, and they get it done. Charge per item, or per hour, either way it would go a lot faster then the three developers working on it now.

3) Pretend not to care, and wait until another 'virtual goods' website arises and takes over the market.

Firstly, Sythe is not generating massprofits to hire web development team
Secondly, we got already very good development team. It's not needed, I honestly don't think Richard is taking care about this forum for cash. I think it's his hobby.
Next thing, to-do list, it already exist and is somewhere in Richard's head or Upper-Staff Lounge or admin lounge
Not every thing can be implemented here because we're using vBulletin 3.
Sythe staff actually care about our suggestions, but they're busy with their real lives, jobs, they aren't our slaves, it's also their hobby and they take care of Sythe just for us and their own satissfaction. They also have responsibilities. I already explained it to you in other thread, so yeah, they have alot of things to do, not much time and tons of suggestions which most of them are not needed.

 

Im sure sythe and a few others have a to-do lust already,remember half of the admins are very good with computers and what they're doing.

on topic, though i'd like to see minor improvements like zuzel said the developers have real lives, and don't want to pay out their own pockets for a development team.

 

The only person who could answer that is Sythe himself, and I don't think he'd publicly release that information.

 

One from the top of my head is creating a new user group. I dont remember exactly what the suggestion was, I think it was something like an extra perk for high donors. I dont remember the specific perk. It's come up more than once if I remember. The suggestion was also brought up with users that have been around for a while. Nano's post about usergroups here. It was the 2nd time increased PMs were brought up, one was longevity and the other high donors (heatz created the thread cba to look for it).

But I understand where op is coming from, Im seeing suggestions with the "if it isnt too hard/long to implement" phrase.

Could you, sythe, or any other admin who knows about it explain further? I mean couldn't there just be like a usergroup where $300+ donors are put in for example?

 

Thats the only issue I can remember. But there have been suggestions in different threads with the phrase "if it isnt too hard/long to do". Some people have been given the impression that if a suggestion takes too much time to implement that it will get denied. I have taken a quick skim on a few threads but I cant find these posts, Im sure Grave said something like it recently.

 

If they care about them, why is the reason to deny a suggestion 'not important enough'. If a suggestion will benefit us, but isn't a huge priority, should it really be denied? I wouldn't think so, maybe you have more input. I'm also aware of that, hence I pointed out that currently Sythe is doing well for a community board, but if it's treated as a 'hobby' it's going to die, be replaced, and forgotten. Making a forum and only working on things ever so often won't benefit it.

I don't care for your childish response. I could name three builds off the top of my head I dream to have, but it doesn't mean I could re-write the theme...And the fact you're relating three people to an entire team is pretty funny.

Well, I don't have one. I didn't suggest it because I want a ton of things added, I suggested it because all the suggestions I see being denied, are denied because they've been denied in the past (Talk about that in another thread) or because it isn't important.

Well then it comes to a few things. Is the PM space on the big ol' todo, is it relevant now, or should you work on different things. Perhaps keep the community posted on what's being worked on in the month of January, and so on. Not trying to tell you how to do it, but would definitely help.

I haven't fully read this thread, but you really need to sort out SEO. Please fix the redirect loops vbSEO has caused.

PS: I have a list of all the files and settings causing problems with sythe's SEO. Lots of them are just badly optimised image files, so not hard to fix.

 

You really need to be more specific,Should have linked a few good denied suggestions before making the thread. And the jagex team is a joke tbh,They have to set a bounty just to find whoever is ddosing them. And they've been being ddosed for over a year. And its kind of stupid to suggest a payed development team,But hey its your suggestion. Sythe isnt the biggest community and i dont believe he is aiming to make it very massive because the game its based around is dead. Plus the site is fine,Why would a payed team be really needed?

Meh. With the additions we've had this year - Miniranks, SytheChat, TwoFactor, Wallet incoming, homepage updated (rounded, icons, sub-links, top bar), donor updates, new sections, new BBCode, dicing, cards, Sythe Verified users & of course all the minor tweaks here and there.

It's hard to complain. Most things with enough support will go through eventually - it's a matter of having to collaborate and get through things which are definitely necessary one thing at a time. I personally feel as though Sythe offers a lot more in terms of features and how it's run that make it so much better than any other market trading site out there.

Sure, things aren't always done as quickly or efficiently as people would like but it's not as though it's so non-existent that we need a paid Dev Team. Just my 0.02.

 

Development on necessary things isn't where it should be, given the size of the site. Social, mobile and SEO is essential yet barely touched.

 

from my experience on browsing sythe on an iphone it's fine, easy to use and there's really not much i can't do, can't think of anything off the top of my head to be honest, so in my view it's not really a problem
