Clean Sythe Members List

Delete Sythe accounts that have 0 posts and are inactive for what ever amount of years why keep them is there a reason to this please explain.

The members list is 60% inactive people with less then 5 posts why keep their accounts let their usernames be available to new registering users...

 

When names start being recycled, albeit inactive members, then it leaves a lot of room for confusion down the line. It's just not worth it when there are still plenty of "good" names available.

 

If we just recycle members that have 0 post how could it case confusion?

 

Let's say you want to open a goldstore, and you recently found back sythe.org and you want to user your old account RSGP4YOU or something that resembles your new stores' name, you'd not be happy.

No support. Members shouldn't be deleted for the sake of opening up room for new usernames.

A lot of people who want to come back will all report to the website 'where's my account *account name*?' Such and such.

 

Why would they come back if they have 0 posts to begin with... if they haven't used the forum in over what ever amount of years and never posted do they deserve the right to even argue why their account was deleted...

I assumed that this was done with staff name changes. I do not think it's a bad idea. It comes down to who owns the name, but then there is too much confusion.

 

If an account has zero posts and inactive for 2+ years I highly doubt that.

You really didn't back that up with any reasoning at all. Might as well have said no support rainbow faeries will start shooting out of n4n0s ass.


@OP, looks like this was already done recently as Richard already mentioned. In a couple years inactive usernames will be freed up once again probably.

 

There would be archived scam reports against same usernames. It'd affect user audit for sure. It would bring vaders back to their previous names. It's fine as it's now. Imagine someone who got caught on evasion before he even posted first time. Then 2 years later his account gets removed. Even if someone legit joined Sythe under that name there would be ugly scam report on his name. I had the same with 'RSGOLD4YOU' domain which I borrowed from MMORPG. There was scam report as first result on 'rsgold4you' Sythe user and some customers backed off trades just because of that.

 

Richard said that it was already done in 2011. With that being said, this is an already approved suggestion making your argument invalid.

 

I don't support this there is no point people mat have 0 posts but they might come to sythe some day and start posting loads

 

Recreating a new account for not posting in 2 years is a small consequence that is justified.

 

I think deleting 0-postcount-accounts would be a good idea, I don't see how it'd interfere with any sort of staff investigation. In my years on staff, I've never had to use a 0-PC-account in an investigation for a ban.

Maybe instead of deleting them outright, perhaps mark them as "Recyclable"? Then accounts marked as such can be over-written if someone wants to register the same username. That way, evidence persists if we EVER need it, unless in the unlikely event someone happened to want that account username.

 

Suggestion denied. If this does happen, its handled 100% internally anyways
