A friend has been banned

Thoughts on the whole a friend situation? He got perm-banned across all his accounts for encouraging and advertising gambling websites to his large audience

 

Deserved it Don't sell-out twice..... No amount of money will allow him to be able to look in the mirror and be able to say he didn't sell his morals for cheap [for anyone not familar he sold out his underage audience mostly age 15-21 to a bitcoin gambling website which profited off his viewers more then they paid him which was 25k+ usd in payment] This is feeding a gambling addiction and arguably just as bad as what ariba gold did with magebets ..... stop trying to push runescape players towards underage gambling its fucking wrong coming from someone who odds staked!

Lemme make this clear the biggest reason I dont support this is simply because I believe A friend with his loyal audience could have said hey guys im not making the income im really desiring and be honest he could've saw a drastic change in income from other venues

Obviously he would take the offer, you're a moron if you think otherwise. If he didn't get banned on all his accounts I doubt the video would have been removed by him

 

It's crazy how much people are willing to pay other people for advertisements. Truly shows how much they make that spending thousands is worth it

 

As an Administrator on a gambling site perhaps I can provide a different perspective on the situation.

While I think the ban is fair, I don't really understand people's opinions on the whole situation, which A Friend also shared. People criticize others for advertising gambling sites (which this particular one you had to be 18+ to even play), but people don't say anything about teenagers going to the duel arena and losing billions. Nobody ever complains about when twitch streamers do subscriber only giveaways, where they make well over $2.50/sub in exchange for like a 30m item. I'm aware Jagex Mod's made a post on another forum stating they were trying to find a solution to stop this, but they're being extremely hypocritical.

Jagex literally allows you to buy bonds for real money, then sell it through the G.E. for gp. This is literally RWT, but when others sell gold all of a sudden it becomes taboo.

People hate on YouTubers because they grow stale with the game and turn for other options to profit, while you may not like it you can just go watch another video - it is not like every single video someone makes is an advertisement. The YouTuber is in full control of their future, a gambling site makes them an offer which they can either accept or decline, no one is forcing them to accept.

If I was in A Friend's shoes I would of done the exact same thing. While people will give him hate he can still profit that money and then create new videos that people will watch regardless of if they like him anymore or not. He's got the whole community in the palm of his hands and depending on how he wants to play this out he will gain a massive audience or he will turn to an alternative.

 

I understand where you're coming from. Knowing that majority of your adience is under the age of 18 and you're still advertising a gambling website? What about being the person he is, shouldn't he be a role model? Is he not the #1 highest subscribed runescape youtuber? I feel like he should hold himself accountable for his actions as well as setting a good example for the rest of the youtubers. Not only is gambling toxic, it can truly ruin lives if addicted. Overall i think it was a very poor business move on his end and he should of thought more clearly instead of drooling over the the 20k+ he got because now he basically ruined his career.

 

He is 100% responsible for his actions. That does not take anything away from my point though. He advertised a website that requires you to be 18+ to play on. Just like he is responsible for his actions, you are also responsible for your own. There are plenty of ways to get help for a gambling addiction, but that is besides the point.

What difference does it make of him advertising a legal gambling site versus the game that all of us play(ed) at one time having an actual form of gambling in the duel arena that does not require any age to play on, all you need is a RuneScape account.

He was in full control over his decision, people will 100% watch any vid that he puts out, this hardly affects his channel in my opinion.

 

Wasn't he only advertising on his twitch channel though? What in-game rules if any did he break?

Yes this is the same guy. & Jagex basically just made a new rule and made an example out of him.
The new rule is along the lines of advertising 3rd party websites that involve gambling. They don't like this because typically gambling websites lead to rwting

Thank you for the pic. I am still wondering if he actually broke the rule by advertising within the game or if he kept the advertising to just his twitch channel. If they're banning him for the content he chooses to advertise on his twitch that's pretty out of line

 

why would your friend do this?

 

It was along the lines of "undermining game integrity" or something, along with RWT as an account named "StakeDawtCom" gave him 1b 07 to stake with for the video. The game integrity was because while at the duel arena, he kept bashing it and calling it full of scammers, and kept referring to stake.com as a better alternative, like how there's no scams, less tax, etc

 

I dont really have an opinion on this situation , I guess everyone has a price , but what I can tell you that the memes like "does someone has an acc I can borrow for A Friend" got me laughting hard.

Who on sythe wouldn't take 50k+ for a 2 minute shout-out in his position? I know most guys would suck Thor off for less. That is the real question.

 

My interest for him stopped around the time he decided to discontinue his 10 hours videos but he had a few controversy events in his time since then which have probably discredited his online character. I'm not surprised at all that he got banned but I can agree about the earlier post about who wouldn't have taken the sponsor offer, I sure would have.
