A Few Scams [Pictures]

Disclaimer: Despite the fact that scamming is looked down upon by many people here, I consider it to be in same category as luring simply because in the end you end up screwing someone over. If anything this thread could be used to show users to watch out for this scam. I didn't post this thread planning on getting banned. If a mod decides to ban me so be it. If I'm banned without warning or explanation from a mod, it would be completely unfair. I'm willing to delete everything I have posted if this thread is breaking any rules.



Explanation: I won't go into great detail of how this scam works, the only thing you need to know is I have the wonderful ability to convince a person to purchase something that is nearly worthless for millions of GP. This scam does require two people. Also, I'm sure many of you will be skeptical assume this is fake. If you look at most of the images above, the person I am trading with is on my friends list. This is simply for the fact so I can find them at the crowded GE.

That is the exact reason this scam worked so well. Few people really know what it is, making it difficult for them to decipher what it's truly worth.

 

Nice I think I understand why you need about two people for this.
as one person wants to buy it for high price so they get it and they actually end up not wanting to buy it ?

 

Not quite like that but similar yes. One of the oldest scams in the book, yet works so well with a few of my methods.

 

one stands saying buying bubble maker 20m
you stand away from person saying selling bubblemaker 10m

 

Classic scam, lol @ people still falling for it. Not a bad thing imo, if it relies on the greed of the victim like I think it does.

Same concept, but totally different method. If it is a perm ban, I think it's HIGHLY unfair considering the same thing is occurring here on sythe, but people boasting about lures. They even have a section looking for luring partners. It's not hacking, it's not phishing or anything illegal. It's screwing over someone in game for the benefit of GP.

Its because if you're a scammer in rs, whats to stop you from scamming here.
Mods believe that you're a security risk. and scamming is different from luring.

When you scam, you are directly misleading someone, and offering something different than what they expect, in exchange for something they have.

When you lure, you usually offer something that they want, so it plays on their own greed.

 

This scam involves something they want. It is the EXACT same concept. As other's have said basically the person thinks they are making a profit playing on their own greed. This was a 100% fair trade. The user knew exactly what they were purchasing on a price they agreed on.

 

you can't lure people on sythe unless you lure them on rs.
Its different than scamming. Luring was thought of being banned too, but they decided against it.

You can scam people on sythe. theres nothing stopping you from coming back here and doing the exact same thing.

Also, I have made well over 50m+ in scamming. Sadly these are the only screenshots I have considering my partner usually was the one doing the trade.

 

How is it even remotely the same as sythe scamming? On sythe to scam is to take someone's items/gp and then not commit to your end of giving them back whatever was intended.

OP is selling the item and these idiots are willingly trading their gp for it.

It would be like OP selling a santa hat for $1000 and someone buying it, if they want to pay that much then it is up to them. It's not like the OP is switching a santa hat for a fez or something
