Recovering accounts

So I've just had my account hijacked by someone who hijacked it three years ago through the recovery system. Everything I have is secure now so I'm guessing they hacked it through the recovery system this time too.

Aside from that being some serious bullshit, they were able to change my RSN twice which implies I don't have a bank pin anymore unless there's some way to transfer bonds on Rs3 without trading.

Anyone know if bank pins are removed when an account is manually recovered? And if so, what the actual fuck...

 

They probably just guessed your pin then removed it. I don't think it would be hard for a hacker to get most people's bank pins since many people use things like date of birth or other general information for their bank pin.

 

I'm not sure if you have to enter your pin for every trade if you're not putting anything up in the window. Someone may have been able to just trade bonds to your account.

 

Maybe your pin was too obvious? TBH I don't think jagex removes pins.

 

The bank pin isn't linked to my date of birth etc, it's literally just a random string of numbers I made up and as far as I know doesn't represent anything well known, so I'd be surprised if they managed to guess it. :l

You can trade oldschool bonds over but they don't have an option to buy display name changes. It's the rs3 ones I'm not sure about because to trade on Rs3 you need to enter a bank pin.

 

He must have just guessed it. Or maybe you downloaded something on your computer which allowed him to see what it is and hack you. Hopefully you manage to recover it and your bank is somehow still there

 

Maybe. This is someone I know irl though, so I figure he knew the answers to my recovery questions years ago, then just used the exact same things to hack it a second time.

I'll keep this updated with progress, would be nice to find out if the pin was removed.

 

Jagex doesn't remove bank pins. If you need this to change a name using a bond, they have either hacked your computer and gotten the pin, or as suggested above - guessed it.

If they do, your bank is most likely gone, sorry.
