I know the previous thread got locked, but what if the Members List is turned into a google search field instead?

There could be a google search added with the advertising program that searches Sythe, with the preset field "view profile:"

This way people can input the name and a google search comes up, with a few advertisements that have the potential to earn some revenue to support the website. Yes, people can just go to google and do it, however doing this will allow newbies to easily search the members without stressing the website from abusers.

Yes but that would still leave us with a broken Members List.

The Google method requires navigation to two pages (Google, then Sythe), and (if you're using Google toolbar) a total of two clicks.

I said easier, not faster. Also, using that method you'll find every single profile. The Google bot haven't found every one.

Assuming you mean changing the search function to redirect you to Google using your input with tags added, it's an interesting idea, and I don't see how it could be abused. It seems feasible, but you never know with vBulletin.

No, not like that. The search would be INSIDE Sythe.org and not Google. Google has an advertising program that allows you to search your own website and integrate it into your website.

I always use this method too, but the point remaining is having something in replacement of the members list is better than nothing.
