カタカナ (katakana) is what the Japanese use to derive English, or foreign words. Like computer is コンピュータ (ko-n-pyu-ta).

It's different from their main syllabicity (ひらがな (Hiragana)) which is how the Japanese pronounce every single one of their words.


Of course, you can't rely on just Hiragana and Katakana, because you gotta learn the 2,045 常用漢字 (jouyou kanji) necessary to read even a newspaper in Japan.


Such examples of Kanji include

日 - にち (nichi) ひ、び、に、(hi, bi, ni) etc. Meaning is Day. Sun.

月 - がつ、 げつ。 (Gatsu / Getsu). つき (tsuki). Means Moon. Month.


Common phrases include:

愛してる (Aishiteru) "I love you".

だいすき (Daisuki) "I like you".

Pigeot. I think thats what its called, the final evolution of that big bird. Ever since i saw Ash use it to fly on it in the TV shows, i was like 'damn! I wish i had one!'. Then on every pokemon game i owned, i usually had a maxed Pigeot with the fly ability .

Seriously, how cool would it be to have a giant bird for transportation, that you can keep in a teeny tiny pokeball? hahah
