8-core setup for <$1000

@Ivy: Thanks a bunch for the advice!

If you personally have an i7, could you run that little program that I posted?

I'll find it;

If not, could you run it anyway :'D Again, thanks so much for the help thus far.

Yep I'll run it for you. I don't have an i7 2600k, but I have the i5 2500k. The differences between the two are very small, just in case you were unaware. The 2500k is exactly the same minus hyperthreading and 2mb of L3 cache. Real world performance is within 2-3% of a difference in most applications.

My score was:

I know it says my CPU is only at 3.3GHz but it's actually overclocked to 4.8GHz so keep that in mind lol. Also the GTX 480 is significantly faster than a 560 Ti, so YMMV.

If you really want 8 cores, I'd rather go with a motherboard that supports 2 1366, 1155, or 2011 socket cpu's and load it with a couple quad cores..
very expensive though
And as far as the bench, I didn't do it right and the fps wouldn't test. 5.3 on the second one though.

Would this sound good for a setup?

CPU: Sandy Bridge Core i5 2500k, Overclocked to 4.4ghz, Antec Kuhler 620 H2O CPU cooler.

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth P67

GPU: (2x SLI) MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

MEMORY: G-Skillz 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (overclocked)

PSU: Antec Truepower 23754 TP-750 BLUE LED 750-Watt PSU NVIDIA SLI Certified 80 Plus Bronze Advanced Hybrid Cable Management Power Supply

CASE: Silverstone Raven-02EW

Do NOT buy those graphic cards in sli. GTX 460 works much better in sli

Not the best, but if you bought 4 of those and got a good server mobo you'd be set. OFC that would cost nearly 2k at least.
Literally the only reason Xeons exist is so that you can get multiple CPUs on a single motherboard.
