Sectionals for the report a scammer section?

Also have a thread for people to apply for it considering you cant really scout memberson their ability to catch scammers since only staff can post on threads in that section.

Have tryouts and threads used as an example given to newcomers wanting to join.

Dude sectionals for report a scammer would be like giving them more power than other mods without them even being mods

How can having the powers of a mod minus the powers of a mod have more power than the powers of a mod?

They could be just designated people that are aloud to post and talk in the section. I didnt intend to imply that they could ban and lock threads if you interpreted it that way.

 

I've turned the "specially selected team" down numerous times. Though I don't really want to go through all the reasons again, I'll summarize: it's easy to burnout on reports fairly quickly (so a dedicated staff for it is generally a bad idea), there are large opportunities for corruption, and thus there are no users we'd trust to appoint who aren't already mods, etc.

As gohan pointed out above, even sectionals have to apply for RaS permissions, as making decisions about reports/bans is generally reserved for globals.

How bout you guys at least go through the reports once a day >.> not that hard.

 

They've got better things to do. Plus how would you like to clean up for someone because they don't know how to trade without taking caution?

 

But I rarely see any of the globals ever doing any of those reports. Skele was appointed to do them, and he did. R33l and Darkgroove occasionally do them. The idea of getting a group together to do scam reports is not a bad idea. I'm sure there's many non-staff members who are viewed as smart, trusted, and have a sense of how to do reports correctly. You should at least give it another shot.

Anyways, I've noticed that darkgroove is doing the reports atm. BUT WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING EM FROM 3 MONTHS AGO?!?!?!?

 

I'm stupid because I know how to trade? I've never been scammed here because I know how to ask for a PM , I know who to trade, I know how to trade, I know not to trade runescape accounts because any can be recovered, I know how to trade Pins, etc.

It's the seller's fault for not taking trading precautions before hand and not using a Middleman or trading with an unreliable buyer. But of course, some people get to excited before the trade happens and find themselves scammed. And then, we file the report, and eventually it'll get answered. But again it is the seller's fault.

Secondly, it's better to do the old ones first? Some scammers could have been scamming the whole 3 months for all we know.

Thirdly, calm down and stop flaming Gohan. He was once a Mod and he knows how it is.

 

You've fucking said it yourself. My point's been proving, its way to fucking easy.. Even if you've never had any recover questions, bank pin, members, or anything you can easily get it back.

 

Bro, I traded Clowdsword. He has 54 vouches and used tengauge12 as a MM... Accounts can still be recovered.

 

Alright then don't stay on that section, obviously other people will keep trading and that's their fault if they get scammed. There are other markets on Sythe with legit traders

 

When you're buying/selling something. It's at your OWN risk. Any account/payment sent can be taken back at any time. Gohan was just mentioning that he doesn't buy accounts because they can be taken back at any time.

 

I never mentioned anything in my first post about account recoveries.

If you know that an account is going to be recovered or even suspect it, why bother continuing the trade and buying it?

You complaining about people not taking precautions like not going first is not a valid argument. Someone HAS to go first and therefore there is always at least 1 person vulnerable to being scammed in any trade.

 

Yes, but I know there are legit people on this site that have shops and such, so just use those.

 

Mods Will get to it in their own time...They are Real people with REAL responsabilities...And surely Sythe istn #1....

You say that they can be dedicated to solving reports. How EXACTLY are they going to lock/edit threads in a section if they're not a mod of that section? How do you know they won't abuse their power and be biased? How are they supposed to hand out punishments?
