How to use your Laptop to get on Xbox Live(Windows 7)

    -

    Things you'll need;

    Laptop with Windows 7(Derp)
Ethernet cable(Has to reach laptop from the xbox)
    Internet access with your laptop(DERP)

    -

    Now let's begin..

Guide all in 1 long step

On your Laptop, in the bottom right corner, right click your wireless connection and click "Open Network and Sharing Center"

From here click "Change adapter settings"

You should now see your wireless connection and "Local Area Connection", right click "Local Area Connection" and click "Properties"

Now click "Sharing" in the top left, then tick "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" and that will make "Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection" light up. Un-tick "Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection" and then un-tick "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" it should look like this.

Press ok. Hold CTRL and click both your wireless connection and your Local Area Connection. Let go of CTRL and right click either connection and click "Bridge Connections"

After that, just connect your Ethernet cable to your Ethernet port on your xbox and the other side of the cable into your laptop. You should now be able to connect to Xbox Live.

Now, to prevent random disconnection while on live, you need to adjust your power settings(Thanks Drewskyd!)

Again, press the Windows Symbol on your keyboard/the bottom left and type "Power Options"

From there, click "Change plan settings"

Now change "Put the computer to sleep:" to "Never"

Save changes and you're now done. Enjoy playing on Xbox Live! :D

    Q. Does this work for XP/Vista?
    A. Vista, yes. XP, not sure.

    Q. I followed the guide and xbox live still isn't working, what do I do?
    A. Post here or PM me and I'll help to my fullest extent.

I used no resources whatsoever to write this guide. All of this came from my own knowledge and the pictures taken myself.

Nice guide Harped, I've seen a few things LIKE this on Youtube but never on Sythe. I have Windows 7 also, and I know an easier way to do this that I might can explain to you and you can add it to the guide if you would like. Nice pictures with the guide, and it's easy to follow along with too. The only other thing I think you might should add is to change your power setting so that your laptop doesn't sleep after a certain amount of time.

Overall, I would say this is a pretty good guide.

I figured there would be something like this somewhere on the internet >.>

Feel free to explain your way; I'm up for learning new things.

    Thanks.

I'm usually on my laptop while xbl, so that didn't even cross my mind, thanks! I'll get right on updating that.

You could do this with a desktop couldn't you? (Wireless USB router?)

Nice guide though, should make a section for XP(Vista is like the same. :p)

    Edit:
I forgot to rate the guide, 9/10. xDD

I don't think you'd even need a wireless router - it'd just be a different process finding all the options you needa change, which you can search for in my computer.

    10/10, definitely.

You're connecting to the internet with a wireless USB adapter, on your desktop?

If that's the case, yes, yes you can. It SHOULD be the same way as my guide(For Windows 7, if you don't have 7, see below.)

Section for XP: I KNOW it's possible with XP, as I've done it. I don't remember the EXACT steps, and I don't have an XP computer anymore. I WILL try to get a guide for that ASAP, but no guarantees.

    Anymore questions, just post.
Thanks for the 10/10, much appreciated. :)

Fuck no, I'll need to use a USB adapter when I get my desktop though(got it free with my modem >.> Thats if I wanna connect to live aswell though)
And alright, only saying you should make one, a lot of people still use XP and it would help them aswell ;o

Alright, if you need any help when you get it, I'll try my best.

I don't have an XP computer at the moment, or I'd certainly get started.

Nope, I did not. I'm pretty sure they don't advertise this, because they want you to buy the $100 adapter. Link me, please.
