Stupidest paper i'v ever had to do at school.

A while back i had to do a paper to convince people to smoke. A question would be a person saying "I don't smoke because it killed my dad" So I had to write answers like "Your dad is a wuss, man up." Does anyone else think this paper was ridiculous.

 

I like schoolwork when it isn't boring as shit. It sounds like an awesome paper.
It also depends on the class it was for.

This paper topic is very challenging to write. It's not stupid, it tests how well you can do counter arguments regardless of right or wrong.

This requires some research about smoking benefits. When your writing try to tone down the negative effects.

How do you counter-argue a known fact? I just can't find any possible way this can be an effective paper.

It's like saying cancer is good for you. And writing complete bullshit.

 

In modern day society, lying can go a long way. How do you think cigarette companies get people to smoke, tell them all the negatives?
How do you think lawyers get guilty people lower sentences, obviously through setting up a good argument.

I'm sorry...aren't schools supposed to convince people NOT to smoke? You said you had to type an essay to convince people TO smoke...

 

It's to be able to argue for both sides, that way you get better at debating.

 

Papers like those teach you how to counter arguments, even if the topic is crazy.

 

No, it prepares you for the real world. Some one will reward you for screwing some one else over.

 

Yeah i agree this sounds like it would help a bunch. I hate arguing against what I agree with though... This should be like, illegal.
