Before you infract me for posting a suggestion from the 'do not suggest list', I am NOT suggesting you promote more people to be moderators, I am merely suggesting you demote alot of the current mods and find some new ones.
Many people refer to Sythe.org as the 'scam' site, since so many users scam on here. I believe this is because a scam report gets posted, and will not be checked for days, possibly weeks. By this time the offender has had time to scam even more which is why so many people are scammed. If you banned them when the report was posted, scamming would drop a hell of a lot.
Common responses from current Moderators:
Don't get scammed - unfortunately, since Official MM's are hard to get hold of, in many trades somebody will need to go first. Since alot of the people using Sythe are leechers, they will be expected to go first, and won't get even close to a trade if they won't, so scams will always happen unless theres a lot of OMM's which obviously I can't suggest, so I won't.
We don't want to spend hours of our time checking reports when half don't have proof - If the report doesn't have proof, a 5 second glance to notice there is no proof and close the thread, aslong as you keep on top of them they won't take long. And if you don't want to spend your time checking the reports, then you shouldn't be a Mod. Becoming a Moderator gives you extra responsibility to ensure that trading on Sythe is safe, and that if a user does get scammed then sufficient action will be taken. Fair enough you don't get paid, but if you don't want the extra responsibility...step down...let somebody who will actually help Sythe have the position.
Summary:
I suggest giving current Moderators a trial, since they are Moderators they should have to be active each day, or atleast every 2 days. When active they should moderate the forums and ban scammers, therefore spending more time in Report a Scammer. If any of the current mods aren't fairly active, and don't want to spend their time making Sythe safe, then I suggest they are demoted, and the position handed to somebody more worthy. Many more people would use Sythe if they knew it was safe, or if Moderators actually did something about reports, since leaving them ignored hugely annoys users.
