    Paypal Gift?

Hello, it has been brought to my attention of this method of now sending funds via Paypal as a gift. I was wondering what exactly is the benefits of this besides there being no transfer fee? I mean I have tested it and it was still possible to initiate a claim for the funds that were transferred. So when sending money as a gift is the money safe even if there is no claim and cancel? Or is a claim and cancel still needed to ensure it is 100% safe?

    Look at it this way.

Claim and cancel means to claim your money back because you didn't get what you paid for. Now if I gave you a gift, I can't claim it back..it's a gift. Gifting is like a donation..you can't claim a donation back and say "oh, I didn't get my item." When you send a gift you send it without expecting something back. See where I'm going with this?

Yes I see where you are going, but what if someone files a "Unauthorized Transaction" dispute? Wouldn't the claim and cancel method neutralize this possibility as the individual filing the dispute and canceling it would select "Item not received"?

If anyone files an "Unauthorized Transaction" then there is nothing that you can do even if they claim and cancel. I learned this the hard way..I made the guy claim and cancel and one month later my balance was in the negative.

The chances of that happening aren't very high so I wouldn't worry about it much.

Alright, well thank you for the information Fatih. I have obtained the information I needed to help better my Paypal experience, no matter how poor it may be.

    Haha. No problem.

Paypal is a bitch, I called them when that happened to me and apperently it doesn't matter about what you say. If the guy has proof that he was "hacked" your screwed.

Please, Gifting isn't 100% safe. If you're going to teach someone how to protect their sale, at least inform them accurately.

Gifting is a personal payment, which means you can't claim normally. You also aren't charged the normal fees. However, unauthorized claims still apply. Be careful with any kind of sale via Paypal because stolen Paypals are extremely common.

If someone gifts you money or claims/cancels, they can still ask Paypal to manually enter in a dispute.

You lacked the attention to detail to mention that it also involves Gifts, not just Claiming and Cancelling. ^_^
