User Education

There was a thread pertaining to UE Evaluation, so I'm posting this, as I had done back in November '08.

1. What is your thought about User Education?
2. Anything you think can be done to improve the UE Section?
3. Do you believe that it should stay, or it should go?
4. Any particular Guides that you like/dislike in the UE?
5. Someone you feel should be in the UE that is not already? (Provide Reason)
6. Someone you feel shouldn't be in the UE that currently is? (Provide Reason)
7. Do you think that 3 HUE's is a bit excessive, or ithere is somewhat of a balance?
8. If you are against UE, is it because you are biased for not being a User Educator?

Please answer each question throughly, with reasoning to back each answer.
I'll try to provide a response or feedback to each users thoughts.

I have positive thoughts about all of these except the one.

Having three head user educators is a bit excessive. The rank IS called Head user educator for a reason.

Why is it necessary to have three? Venom is still under R33l and Pen's ruling, for what? There is no point. It doesn't take three of them to make a decision. At max, there should only be 2, which would be R33l and Venom giving Pen is never active anymore. Why should there be so many HUE's when one HUE has to listen to the other?

 

The rank simply states that they rule over all the User Educators, and are responsible for keeping the section clean, and making sure their 'understudies' are not only active in helping out other users in their own section, but taking part in application voting and other important decisions.

Pen is an Admin, and never does a thing in the section, which is why I don't understand why he is listed. (He doesn't even have the rank)
R33l2r3al is now a Global, and doesn't always have enough time to be online, and he has the responsibility to Moderate all of Sythe now.
Venom1 is now the Sectional Mod in charge, mainly, as the UE Section is his only section to keep watch over.

He may be underneath them in terms of Sythe ranks, but he still has his own voice to make decisions and moderate like any other Moderator.

It most certainly doesn't, and now some weight can be taken off R33l2r3al as both an HUE and a Global. This way, things will be able to yet again run smoothly throughout the UE Section.

Indeed, but R33l2r3al still deserves credit as the HUE, as he has worked so hard to get it. He's been extremely helpful in the section for months, and I hope he doesn't leave anytime soon, as well with Venom.

Like any other sythe rank seems to be, it's based on how well connected you are to other ranked sythe members.

From the state it's at now...it should definitly go.

I think since this seems to be a Runescape community...alot of Runescape guides should be in the guide section. Not the "how to transfer 5m" guides - but the "What a rare name truly is...", "How to build your own private server", etc kind of guides should be in the guide section. I dislike most guides because they are about random useless things like welding. We're all computer geeks why would anyone care to know about welding...I'm sure there are a few though but it still seems pretty useless. I think that all guides should be somehow related to computers, or technology.

Me, plenty of reasons. Obviously no sythe staff have got to know me yet as I just started here - but I have much more experience with communities like these. I have lots of knowledge to spread to others, and I'm a very honest down-to-earth person. Maybe a few of you could get to know me a bit more, I'm sure you'd realize this =).

Inventor, I've got to know him pretty good over the few months I've been lurking. He's a smart guy, and should definitly be a moderator...but user educator I think not. I don't see him active in the section

I havn't been lurking long enough to really notice everything - but I can tell you this...the word "head" usually means the "leader" of said area. 3 leaders causes confusion - and I think that this "Unb4nn3d" fellow, should definitly be the head of user education.

Silliest question, but I'll answer it anyways. No, I havn't been a part of this community long enough to care about it as a whole - but I do care for the individuals in the community. So I'd have to say no, I don't care about the community enough yet to be driven to want a UE...although it would give me something to spend my time doing, as my last community (tip.it) unmodded me.
