Hey, I apologize if this is the incorrect forum, but here is my guide from the RSBot forums. ( http://www.rsbot.org/mybb/showthread.php?tid=437 )
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Almost every aspect of the RSBot experience is slightly different on a Mac. Here is your complete guide. Cheers.

1. Bending SVN to Your Will
<The SyncroSVN Icon>
1.1 Setting Up SVN
1. SVN is the easiest tool to use to update and download RSBot.
TortoiseSVN is not available for Macs, so download SyncroSVN here.
2. After installing, get a free license here.
Make sure you have a valid email address, and you can only use each address once.
3. Paste the license code which you received in your email into SyncroSVN, and tada you've done it.
4. Add a New Repository Location
![]()
and paste the following in there:
Code:http://rsbotsvn.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
1.2 Downloading RSBot
1. Create a new folder (on your desktop is best). It can be named anything.
2. Still in Repository, click Check Out and browse to the folder you just created.
![]()
3. After hitting OK, be patient and you will find your folder filled with goodies.
1.3 Updating RSBot
1.**SVN will automatically add the folder you previously Checked Out to to Working Copy the next time you open it.
2. If you did not rename your folder since then, SVN will automatically update it. It will not replace scripts which you have edited, or update files it doesn't have in the repository (this includes downloaded scripts and your renamed .sh commands), so rename your .sh files to Run Members.sh and Run Non-Members.sh before updating.
![]()
**If you have any trouble with this method of updating, just repeat the process of downloading RSBot for the first time instead.
2. Java Setup
1. Download the most recent version of Java for Leopard here.
2. Open Java Preferences. Spotlight is the easiest way to find it.
![]()
3. Drag and drop the different java versions for both boxes so they match the picture below. If you have one of the earlier versions of Leopard, or Tiger, you will only have one box of these.

3. Running RSBot
<The Terminal Icon>
3.1 Up and Running
1. Since Terminal does not allow spaces in file names, rename your Run Members.sh and Run Non-Members.sh files in your rsbot folder to something you like.
2. Open Terminal. Its in Applications->Utilities. Drag it into your Dock, you'll be using it a lot.
3. Type inOf course, replace rsbotsvn with the proper name if you call your folder something different (mine is called 'r').Code:cd desktop/rsbotsvn
4*. Type inAgain, replace run.sh with whatever you renamed your Run Members.sh file as. Repeat this with your F2P run.sh and compile.sh.Code:chmod +x run.sh
![]()
*You only need to do this once.
5.** Type in your desired run command (mine is runn.sh for F2P).
![]()
6. Watch RSBot open. It works!
**If you receive the following error, simply type in "sh" before "runn.sh" as seen in the picture. You will need to do this every time in order to execute a shell file.

3.2 RSBot Mac Style
1. Spaces. The most useful thing ever created. Use it whenever possible.
![]()
You can have as many "desktops" as you want. You can rearrange windows from the overview. You can assign certain programs, like Terminal, to open up in a specific desktop.
2. Pressing Apple+N will open a new terminal window. Pressing Apple+H will hide all terminal windows (you never need to look at them anyway).
4. Other Important Info
<The TextEdit Icon>
4.1 Making .java Files
1. Copy your desired script from the RSBot site and paste into TextEdit (found in Applications).
2. Press Apple+Shift+T and OK it.
3. Save as ScriptName.java, not as ScriptName.java.txt in your Scripts folder.
4.2 FAQ
Q:Well, how do I compile?
A: Navigate to your RSBot folder in Terminal (cd desktop/foldername) and then type in compile.sh.
Q:I try to run RSBot but I get an "exception in thread Main" error?
A: Run compile.sh once before-hand. If that doesnt work, redownload RSBot.
Q:Does this SyncroSVN setup work on Windows as well?
A:Why of course little Johnny! The exact same way!
Q:I thought you could automatically check for updates every time you ran RSBot with SVN?
A:You can, however the process of adding a Working Copy yourself is error-prone and not fit to put in a beginners guide. Opening SVN up whenever you need to update is much simpler.
Q:What is the purpose of chmod +x'ing the shell files in terminal the first time?
A: It gives Bash (the overlord of Terminal) permission to execute them.
Q:What is the purpose of converting the TextEdit file into plain text?
A:It removes all formatting so you can save your files as .java.
Q:I hear people talking about the .bat (batch) files in my RSBot folder alot, are they important?
A:For Windows users they are, but you can ignore them completely.
Rep is always appreciated! Feel free to contribute questions and comments! Before asking a question, please reread this guide once.
Happy Botting!
