Why do you choose RS07 over Rs3?

As the title says, what are some contributing factors on why you guys choose the oldschool version of the game over the main version of the game?

 

Nostalgia, when EoC came out it looked like complete garbage i never played on resizable screen maybe that's why, either way i lost interest in EoC only stuck around for hosting staking etc.
When RSOS came out i've never had in interest in switching games or even giving it a chance RSOS is simple got a lot of knowledge about it and never planning to log in to RS3 and do something (besides activating a bond)

 

rs3 is way too complicated, will basically be like learning a new game if i wanted to play.

 

I like the art style/graphics better, it's more relaxing to play, and no pay2win like RS3 so the achievements mean more.

 

mostly simplicity and nostalgia. Also the fact that your achievements mean more imo

- PKing System
- PKP Shop
- Custom Items

 

Rs3 has the GE as well though, dont see how that could be a factor.

 

RS3 pking system was unfamiliar, and terrible for clans. All major pking clans moved to 07 with the release, and I did aswell.

 

I play both versions, but I prefer Pking in 07. Skilling in RS3 is enjoyable but Pking is terrible.

 

I play predominantly 07 but I do not hate Runescape 3 in any way, shape, or form. But here is why I love 07.

Older Styled Graphics and Interface- I absolutely adore this game as it looked in 2007. It's so simple yet it feels so "right". I actually love games with only semi good graphics, and OSRS definitely offers that.

The interface in Runescape 3 is open to customization, but is still convoluted.In Old School you're on a tiny screen, granted, but it's so clean and you know where everything is immediately.

Content isn't added in droves, but when it is, it's pretty damn good- New bosses, items, treasure trails, bounty hunter, etc. Pretty much all of the content added into the game has been fantastic in my opinion. The developers are careful to saturate all new content in the Old School flavor and style. I appreciate this. While it does become more of a pseudo-2007, I think it's necessary for the game to stay alive.

Pking is back in full force, PvP is fantastic - Clans are back, PvP is strong and rewarding, and the community really latches on to the game as a whole and brings a different type of fire and passion to the table.

Levels/wealth are harder to earn than RS3, much more rewarding, and the competitive nature is back in full force in OSRS - beating friends to levels is once again a big fad in the Runescape community. Making fat cash stacks are also among the priorities of many. This competition is good and wholesome fun. I love(d) that part of Runescape. 07 brings it back to life, big time.

Community much more tight-knit than Runescape 3. While I did say in the other thread that 07, in my experience, has more spastics than Rs3, the community is undeniably more tight-knit in 07. There's a true feeling of community and camaraderie. House parties to celebrate levels are once again a thing in RS 07. Runescape 3 is great, but it largely feels like a single player game and a breeding ground for antisocial behavior.

 

Simply because I started Rs in 06 and i've watched the game evolve to something I really didnt like " talking of Rs3 evolution" I love the simplicity of 07 all I need is summoning now and ill be great. 07 is just an overall better money maker, but I do miss not having bots.

 

It's just better. I hate RS3.

 

If I was paid properly I could write a 400 page novel on the reasons.

I played RS 2004-> and once the EOC came out it was a completely different game that I did not sign up for. As somebody who prefers the hybrid pking aspect of the game, and being that this was all I did 2006-> and was no longer possible... I stopped playing. OSRS came out and I was playing private servers and doing very well on them so I did not make the switch to OSRS. I quit all RS related things and about half a year went by and for some reason I bought membership on RS so I could play OSRS. And here I am today.

 

Thats a very detailed post, thanks. I literally agree with you in every single point. I love how the new content is added based on the communities preference, because after all, we are the ones who are going to be using the new content.

I'm pretty sure summoning will come eventually. Things I never expected to be added were eventually put (Like the GE, God wars, etc).

 

1) All my friends are on 07.
2) I prefer 07 style clan warring and PKing, the better of PvP clan activity is on 07.
3) Cleaner UI. Much more simpler to use, it was never broken and didn't need fixing.
4) 07 has much nicer updates, granted some of the new items (like blowpipe) are stupid, but if I were to play original 07 day in day out with no change I'd get bored fast.
5) Wealth and levels actually mean something here. You can't just wallet-flash your way to max, a lot of the simple ways to level in EOC (like bonfires) are not present in 07. Therefore ranking up is more balanced and more respected
6) Older community of players, generally more mature and willing to help.

Styled mostly of Bleed's post but I couldn't agree more. My issue with EOC is more the fact it is now trying to be like every other MMO and the micro transaction system; it's pay2win - but I liked having HD graphics

 

I can say this for all of us we're use to the combat system we enjoy the grind and the simple game mechanics.

 

There are many many reasons why I prefer 07 over rs3, but I cba to name them all, would be no reason to do so, so I will just name a couple.

~ I like the graphics on 07 better
~ I love the original combat system
~ Pking is 5x more lively in 07

 

Pking in OS is x20 times more active then RS3 nobody Pk's in RS3 or legacy.

 

pking and i dont like the new interface..i would play wow or another mmo over rs3

 

pking. it's pretty much dead in rs3.
