Scammer's Profile: Virt Gold - Sythe
Amount Scammed: $245 → $345 (Roblox Discord Bot)
Discord ID + Unique Discord ID: VirtGold#0001 / 1146128707593977906 (Old: 236468130338045952)
Proof of Discord Ownership: imgur.com

Explanation:
VirtGold hired me to develop a custom Roblox Discord bot for $245. The task turned out to be more complex than expected, and I spent 3 days coding it. Once I completed the bot, I sent him a video showcasing the functionality and asked for $345 to reflect the extra work involved.

After seeing the video, he refused to pay, said he’d just make it himself, and instantly blocked me—wasting my time and walking off with the work I did.

How They Scammed:
  • Agreed to pay $245, then ghosted when I asked for $345 due to increased complexity.

  • I worked for 3 full days to complete the bot.

  • After showing proof of the finished product, he backed out completely taking what he seen and making it himself.

  • Refused to pay, or negotiate and blocked me.
VirtGold took advantage of my time and effort, used my knowledge and the bot I developed to make his own, and blocked me instead of paying what was agreed upon. Clear scam behavior, furthermore he is lying he has tried 2 other developers before me but they could not do it, so i messaged him.

Hello @bamf am i Just to clarify the current timeline of events.

You contacted Virtgold about creating a bot for him. You both then agreed on a price for the bot and the functions the bot should be able to preform. You partially completed the bot, showed Virt the current functions but before delivering the finished project you requested a 40% pay increase because the project took you more effort than originally thought. After which Virt decided he no longer wished to work with you and decided to work on the bot himself. Is this correct? or is there anything gaps you would like to fill.

@Poat
The only real gap in understanding comes from Virt’s misinterpretation of the bot being incomplete—which is false. The bot was fully functional and completely bypassed CAPTCHA using residential proxies. The issue is Virt lacks experience with these kinds of bypasses and assumed it didn’t work, likely because he couldn’t recognize the method being used. That’s not my fault.

Why would I explain the exact method (residential proxy bypass) before being paid? If I had told him that upfront, he would have simply replicated the approach himself and never paid me for the work. Which is exactly what he tried to do the moment I showed the working proof.

I delivered a complete product. The increased $100 request reflects three full days of extra work and successful delivery of functionality that no one else could achieve (he previously failed with two other devs). Rather than negotiating or paying for the completed job, he ghosted and blocked me after extracting knowledge and functionality from the demo video.

So to be clear:

  • Bot was complete.

  • CAPTCHA was bypassed successfully.

  • Payment was requested only after full functionality was demonstrated.

  • He misrepresented the bot as incomplete to avoid payment.

  • He attempted to copy the work instead of paying.

@bamf am i According to the screenshot you posted here imgur.com you stated that you were "almost done" then requested more money for the project and that if he agreed upon the new price you could "have it done soon" is there more screenshots of the conversation you would like to add that prove you offered him the fully working bot for the agreed upon price of $245?

almost done as in, he would have to replace his proxy url, and discord bot token. i dont need to explain anymore more than i have thanks for your time.

it seems you're missing a key point: i CREATED more than what virt originally offered for, and i clearly stated that the added complexity (like captcha bypass, which he initially expected to be solved using his keys) required extra work on my part. instead of discussing or negotiating after i showed working proof, he instantly blocked me, avoiding any payment altogether.
to be specific:

  • virt offered $245 with the assumption i’d use his captcha keys.

  • i instead used residential proxies to bypass captcha completely, which is a more effective and expensive solution.

  • this is a better result than what he was going to pay for, and i made that known — after completing it.

  • rather than responding professionally, he ghosted and blocked me, with no willingness to negotiate.
frankly, i’m surprised that this is being spun as if i did something wrong by requesting fair compensation after having a working product that exceeded expectations. it almost feels like i’m being interrogated instead of protected as a developer who got scammed. if someone can block and walk with your work once it’s done (product or even IP), what protection do developers have here?

i stand by what i had ready to deliver and the value i provided. the fact that he used it as a blueprint for his own version is clear enough.

Unfortunately going above and beyond while be it great for the customer doesn't mean you can demand an increase in pay before delivering the product, then threaten to sell his idea to another party. Evidence of which can be found here - Screen capture - dd0b21f8693d40a5b9d6a00d93e99df9 - Gyazo

After which Virt has reached out and said "this is where i really had to block since he mentioned reselling what my idea is to others i am no longer going to participate in such behavior for someone selling my work and idea to someone else for no reason"

While you didn't do anything wrong, you didn't do everything right. As such after threatening to resell the code for the idea Virt had, he was well within his rights to cease communication with you.

It seems the part Virt was most worried about the entire time the captcha solver which was never shown to him and when he asked to see it working you said "captcha solved in background" so I fail to see where he could have stolen or even been inspired by your work.

Ultimately from the evidence provided no scam has occurred.

In the future I recommend either adding to your terms, a condition for additional compensation for unexpected complexity during development, or not agree to work for less than what you think the work is worth to avoid issues like this in the future.
