I cracked sony vegas 8 pro took about 5 min (its a million times harder if you use vista) its really not special if you dont have a HD camera it's a pain to use sorta the only reason its 500$ is because its one of the few softwares where you can stream from an HD camera if you have a DV i'd say try something cheaper
