Details

1. I sent Derp Logic a PM on Scythe with my Discord Username to verify the person I was talking to on discord was him. You can check his Scythe posts to verify the username matches.

a. Say apple imgur.com
b. He says apple in the discord message, verifying I am talking to him. imgur.com

2. He tells me what email to send the money to on Paypal.

b. I send him the money on Paypal. imgur.com

3. The accounts login information, this is clipped, I didn't know at the time that I had to take a picture of the entire discord but this is from the day he sold the account.

4. On October 9th I realize I can no longer access the account and attempt to recover it using the recovery information that was provided to me. It fails. imgur.com

5. So I go to check the discord messages to see if I typed anything incorrectly and notice that messages have been deleted by him, including the login information and recovery information. imgur.com

Compare this screenshot to the screenshot where he had originally said kk,logi, you will see that the information is now missing.

6. So I try to message him on Discord (his sales page says to do this is there are issues with the account) and I find out he has blocked me imgur.com

7. I reach out to him on Scythe and he says that he hasn't blocked me and it is probably because we aren't friends but here is the thing, we were never friends on Discord which means this entire conversation took place without that being an issue.

8. I am not going to post this because that would potentially be sharing private information but if the mods message me and he agrees I can send the mods a word doc where I wrote down all the recovery information he had provided me before deleted our message history in discord which in my opinion proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that this account was originally his and not one that he bought and then was recovered after the fact. The recovery information is specific to him personally which means either it was his account and he recovered it or he has previously sold this account before and sold it to me without disclosing that in his original post and it was recovered as a result of that.

Currently working on resolution as mentioned in topic below.
Restitution will either be, account given back upon successful recovery after I first verify the account is not listed on any other black market website, or an amount no more than the paid amount in above transaction.

I have currently told this user that I will no longer deal with him in DMs and that he must file this report.
When a resolution is made, either I get the account back, or I payout this user, I will be in contact with him again.
Communication in DMs has been nothing but harassment and cyberstalking as this user has looked into my personal details.

This shows all of our DMs through Sythe when he first reported this account to me as compromised.

I don't believe I did refer to as your name in this post, the area where that occurs is when I have to show proof of the transaction occurring on Paypal.

You have now formally admitted that you are the original owner of the account which means that you have access to the master recovery email and guaranteed to be able to get it back.

Am I to understand that prior to doing that you need to check every potential site on the internet where this account could be sold on?

Maybe I am dumb but I frankly don't understand. The only way to recover the account would be to either know more information than you provided me with (because I used that information and had the recovery email changed to be my own and it didn't work) which included the answers to all of the recovery questions or for the person to have access to the original email it was registered with which based on what you just said would be you.

That again means 1 of 2 things is true. You recovered the account or you previously sold/gave access to the account to someone else which you did not disclose prior to my our transaction, both of which put you at fault.

Was it never not formally admitted that it was my account when I was selling it? as the "[OO]" I put in the title explicitly says that I am the original owner?

You frankly just don't understand account security or the fact that accounts have been stolen under people in the RS community who are OOs of the account, so I'm not going to enlighten you on the topic as I don't really feel the need to.

What's to say you didn't get the account compromised yourself?

I no longer feel the need to waste my time on the matter, or argue about this anymore. A recovery request has been sent into Jagex and I expect results in the morning.

That would be impossible to prove.

I recommend that you both agree to Terms of Service (see https://www.sythe.org/threads/a-guide-to-terms-of-service-tos/) about liability in the future.

He had terms of service, they mention reaching out on discord if there is an issue. I think I have already commented on that in this original post. I guess what I am saying is, what is the point of this dispute process if it is impossible for the person being accused to be held liable? Do they not get DNT'd, etc?

They won't be punished without a) proof of them recovering the account; or b) failing to return the account (or a comparable refund) to you.

Also can you post the ToS you agreed to?

3.) If I'm not the OO of a listed account, I am not responsible for any recoveries/bans. This is your gamble with the account. Most accounts in my control are either OOed by me, or custom built, never any sketchy accounts.
4.) If you wish to sell the account, contact me first, I will make an offer on the account. This keeps it in my control, that way the owner has a direct line of contact with me if an account were to ever be lost.
5.) You will keep me added on discord after sale if any issues arise, you will contact me.


Edit: So to be clear, since he has admitted he was the OO my understanding is that he is responsible for any bans or recoveries per his number 3 term.
