ok i had a problem with my computer lagging of course it was running on 512 kb of ram

well i bought another 512 kb of ram and installed it in i had to take out a 126 so that only left me with 874 or something like that

newho after i installed it every 30mins to an hour i would get a blue screen error and it would shut down my windows and restart it
i looked under errors under windows and it said both scvhost and/or explorer stoped working

it did this for about 2 weeks and it still continues but only like once a day

i took out the ram put it back in
this stoped it
but now my computer freezes every so often for like 10-20 seconds
and i need to know how to stop it
it also now takes like 1/2 hour to load

i dont think its a virus or a bug i think it has to do with the hardware or software

can anyone help me?

What type of Ram have you installed?

Did you check that the RAM that you bought was compatible with your computer? Incompatible memory can usually cause the problems that you described.

try taking out the new ram stick and see if it works. If it does then you know its the ram stick.

and i think you mean mb not kb unless your running a really old computer

yeah 512kb would lag running like calc. but yeah remove the new stick of ram, if you don't get that error again, clearly its the ram u purchased, meaning it isnt compatible with your pc,

We've already established that fact, thank you very much.

Your computer is experiencing a well known memory leak in Windows XP Professional. I had the same problem myself awhile back but managed to fix it in a couple days time by just playing around with the services Windows loads on boot and tweaking/disabling as necessary.

Since I assume you aren't tech savvy enough to do this and it's best not to do anything that could make things worse I'd recommend trying the following solution I found online. Post back if you need more assistance or you can always add my public MSN found in my profile.

Get more RAM, or try replacing the cards you currently have.

i fixed it

it turns out that the ram i installed was put in incorrectly and it was just slightly not connecting(that caused my computer to crash)

and as a result of the crashing 11 system files became corrupt which lead to the computer being extremely laggy and slow

i just reinstalled the ram and then repaired windows and it works fine now
