Religion

Ok first off don't post here if you are just going to say something like my gfod is the right one this is an intelligent convorsation.

So. I will start off with. A L O N G time ago there were the islamic jihads against the christians. THey both fought over the same holy land, jerusalem, and there gods said thou shalt not kill but yet they kill in the neame of there god. Catholic church... When martin luther posted his 95 reasons why the catholic church was wrong on the temple door and started the first protestant church they said anyone who kills him would be freed of all there sins. THey were corrupt (pay them enough and they will pardon you of sins). There are numerous things just like above. REligion brings the best and the worst out of the world. When people are willing to kill in the name of there religion just becuase the "infidels" dont believe in the same religion. I don't think that one man should tell me how to worship. The pope for instince (not picking on the catholics) makes the desicions for the catholic church. And a reverand for a protestant church preaches about a god we know nothing for certain about. I believe in a higher power and that someone created the world and us but i dont believe in what I am told by a religion.

Pretty good for a 14 year old huh?

Input anyone

You spelled alot of things wrong. God should be capitalized.

The Bible says thou shall not murder. If you read another place in the Bible, I'm not sure of the exact refrence, but I can find it if you want. He permits killing for war.

I was never aware of the Catholic Chruch saying this. You should watch the movie "Luther" it was a blockbuster hit, on the time when Martin Luther nailed the 95 thesis to the door of the Wittenburge church. To my depection of the movie, I would say its pritty Historically accurate.

People often don't push religion to death, It was mostly during the earlier centuries, with King and Queens of different religions, forcing them upon the people who they ruled.

No man tells you how to worship, that is a choice of your own.

The pope, believed by the Catholics, is a messanger sent by God, to enterprite the Bible, and Gods will.

Thats good, you believe what you want.

If your trying to brag, I'm only 15 and hold my own in many of these topics =/

In a nutshell, I don't mind religious people who are relaxed and able to accept other people who don't believe the same as they do, but I hate people who try to convince others, and the way organized religion works.

Religion often insists that people do not just relaxe. "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel" is a quote recognized by almost of Christian churches, who often go out and rpeach the gospel. Are you offended by this reilgion because they follow what they are told?

So you admit the bible contradicts itself?

Just because you flame my quotes.
"There once was a time when all people believed in God and the church ruled. This time was called the Dark Ages." - Richard Lederer, Anguished English

I never said that. God says thou shall not murder correct? I said He permits muder during war times. That is not contradictorary, that is expanding defining the rules.

How is this relevant? Not everyone believed in God during the Dark Ages.

Just once couldn't you say "ha, what a clever quote Jeb."

And as far as I'm concerned the church did rule in the dark ages, as it had the power to excommunicate the King himself.

No bragging just letting know that mistakes are made. Um i am pretty sure your religous seeing about how you talk. god is not a proper noun. though in some cases it is

God is the name of someone, therefore it should be capatilized, if you are refering to all gods in general, then it is not.

No, I often don't agree with quotes, they leave too much open for arguement.

Yes, but some points during the Dark Ages, the King ruled the Church, giving him the power to decide who was Pope.

It was like the chinese dynastys thpugh. The emporer can decide who his genrals are. But if they wanted that genearl could take the army and kill the emporor. As the pope can excomunicate the king even thoughg the king put him in power.

Lol i just remmbered. The pilgrims came to america right? Well THey came for religious freedom Right? Well they startedf there villages. In massachusetts (i think it was them but to lazy to google it) they bannished 2 people for speeking out against the religion. The pilgrims were religous hipocrits. THat is what religion is. A BUNCH OF HIPOCRITS UNDER ONE ROOF!

And ha, what a clever quote Jeb. :D

So far in history...what has religion done? This Century- Cause wars.
Middle Ages- The Crusades...wars...
Religion is just a mind game to give people reassurance they won't just disapear when they die...
1 of the sensible regligions- Buddisim.

I like this guy... he's smart.

I myself don't consider Buddhism really a religon, more of a philosophy.

Actually, philosophy is conceptual analysis, or the logical analysis of concepts. It's not inherently supernatural, or natural. Since philosophy is not a particular belief system, and Buddhism is, Buddhism cannot be a philosophy.

gahh, gotta go all technical on me.

but yeah, I guess you are right. my bad there.

I'll say it again. There were times during the dark ages, where the Kings had more power then the Pope. At some points the King had tha ability to choose the Pope. There are other times where the Pope controlled the kings. The Pope would often threaten to ex-communicate the King, to get what He desired. There were only a few ex-communications of the King in History.

As for a General Being able to over throw a Emporer, I highly doubt this ever happened, unless the Emporer was a horrible leader anyways.

The pilgrims came to america, to seperate from the Church of England. CAn I see some proof of this happening. Even if there is any, These people came to the new world, for freedom of worship, as a religous community as a whole. If a few people are speaking out against your religous group, something that you just traveled half way around the world to escape, wouldn't you banish them to live in another colony?

How are the piligrims Hypocrits? Did they ever say, "If you speak against our religion, we will still accept you" ?

killing in the name of god lol
like killing somebody to prove that you have the better imaginary friend XD

i think most people need to believe in something, if they dont there would be too much uncertain things wich we dont have the answer, even atheist need to believe there are no god
the important part is respect, respect on other beliefs

We don't need to not believe, we just don't. It's not necessary to our survival.

Um have you never had a history class. The chineses dynastys. Eveery emporor was overthrown by there own genreals and commanders and in some cases family

the way you explained a general to take the army and over through the emporer, you made it seem as if it was a simply task to do, and that any time the general wanted to he could over through the King. It wasn't such a simple task as the you explained it to be.
