Ok first off don't post here if you are just going to say something like my gfod is the right one this is an intelligent convorsation.

So. I will start off with. A L O N G time ago there were the islamic jihads against the christians. THey both fought over the same holy land, jerusalem, and there gods said thou shalt not kill but yet they kill in the neame of there god. Catholic church... When martin luther posted his 95 reasons why the catholic church was wrong on the temple door and started the first protestant church they said anyone who kills him would be freed of all there sins. THey were corrupt (pay them enough and they will pardon you of sins). There are numerous things just like above. REligion brings the best and the worst out of the world. When people are willing to kill in the name of there religion just becuase the "infidels" dont believe in the same religion. I don't think that one man should tell me how to worship. The pope for instince (not picking on the catholics) makes the desicions for the catholic church. And a reverand for a protestant church preaches about a god we know nothing for certain about. I believe in a higher power and that someone created the world and us but i dont believe in what I am told by a religion.

Pretty good for a 14 year old huh?

Religions, with all due respect, are stupid. If you believe in a god good then thats all you need, you don't need a religion telling you what else you should believe. Religion has caused more bad then good.

Long ago religion was used to get power. Now I think it just got kind of hooked into the world, and people think wasing a few hours every sunday does anything.

I actually have ditched religion all together.
I dont care about it, dont want to care about it.

My life consists of going to school, hanging out with mates, catching up with girls, working out at the gym and im looking to start going to partys (one of my female friends wants to take me out drinking -.-' )

Religion is what gives people a reason to be alive.
In living they have some sort of meaning, and when they die - they wont die they will simply deteriorate in the ground and reduce to nothing.
If there is an afterlife, etc. then yeh whatever, great, reward for life, but I'm not gonna bust my balls to get to church.

In saying that - I dont tell my mates their idiots because they believe in religion because I used to be a catholic (legally, i still am) and I go to a catholic school, and i know alot of insecure people who come from poor backgrounds who need that religion to get them through their lives.

Discussing this matter further, The two religions both originated from Jewish.

And when Arthur did post the 95 reasons, Why the catholic church is wrong, He did it because they were corrupt, and not following the bible correctly.

Worshiping false idols ( Statue of Mary) etc.

And yes, man should not tell you how to worship, But The pope isn't there to tell you how to worship, He was put in place to guide, according to the teachings of the bible, not make up his own rules.

I fucking hate catholics... Except the chilled ones... But most of them are pretentious and just narrow minded i suppose. Because infact what you say IS true that the catholics DID kill i nthe name of their "holy, all powerful, loving" god who cares about EVERY PERSON on earth. So i suppose i ask what justifies ANY christian no matter which way they read the bible killing someone. As god created only adam and eve, who i might add must have slept with their kids or something to reproduce... Which also goes against what the bible says. however off topic, god created adam and eve which means ALL people are direct relatives of theirs. Which is turn means you are killing another creature created by GOD. Which is a sin, and so through logic the catholic church is just like one big swarm of sinners, wait not IS, WAS a swarm of sinners

I am a baptist, we pretty much believe in the same shit as everybody else.. I'm not really a hardcore Christian at all though. I have my doubts and I believe in a lot of non-Christian things.

I'm not that hard core about Christianity either, I got to a Reformed church, which is what the people went to when they separated from the catholics.

I'm an atheist, and I don't hate people for believing in God or Buddha or whatever else they wanna believe in.

The thing that gets to me is when they try to push their religion on someone who is not interested, and go around telling everyone else they are wrong and should turn to their belief. I also hate when people do something wrong, such as war, murder, torture, etc. and when their done they try to use their religion to justify it.

Also, most big organized religions use people's belief to get power and money, which is to me the biggest load of bullshit present in our world today, aside from religious wars.

In a nutshell, I don't mind religious people who are relaxed and able to accept other people who don't believe the same as they do, but I hate people who try to convince others, and the way organized religion works.

You just contradicted yourself. Buddhism is ALL ABOUT disappearing after you die... (nirvana is essentially an ending of existance).

Yes, religion has been the reason for many wars, but i propose that religion itself to blame. IMHO, it's just human nature which results in war. Do you really believe that if the entire world shared one religious belief (or was atheist) that there would be peace? I think not.

Of course there would be war. The difference is that the wars would be for real reasons, instead of control of holy land and/or killing infidels.

The only current religion-related war I can think of at the moment (where both sides use religion as motivation, which is what is being discussed in this topic) is the war between Israel and Palestine. I'm probably wrong, so feel free to point it out.

Note: I'm not including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because religion is not the motivation behind the United States' invasion of either county. In those cases, the motive is simply oil and money.

I, along with DarkSpark, hate catholics. They are indeed open minded and try to impose upon my family. They are my next door neighbors. Every time my family sits down for dinner, her kids come running up to our door cause she probably going to the bar, so shes open-minded enough to think that we'll automatically babysit her little mistakes, and yes, they were mistakes, ive been living next to them all my life......i want to move :S

Kind of off topic here, but as a baptist is it common belief that once your saved you can't fall out of grace no matter what? When I was a methodist I was told you can fall away from grace, but any babtist preacher I talked to said you couldn't. Just curious, allthough none of it really matter to me at this point.

Religion has been doing that for thousands of years. Not to say pure forms of religion dosn't exist, but religion is a buisness and people are getting rich off of it.
I agree with you, people pushing their beliefs on you is annoying. You'll find these are generally people who are insecure and feel the need to be a part of something and want everyone they know to believe just as much as them.

I've taken the time to sit down and talk with some of these people I go to school with. I've found that I usually know more about christianity than they do and that I can usually sway their opinions because they don't even have any to amount to anything.

I believe partly in what you say. Also i have never gotten the "killing in the name of God" when killing is a sin, but anyway. I think you should look at several religions and get the basic meaning of it. If you pick apart any religion then you will find something wrong with it.
