Hey guys, I just wanted to share this. We do not write just about games and trading, we'd also like to branch out from time to time and as geeks of varying interests and degree in the office, one of the interests we branched out to was 3D printers.

Personally, I never really bothered with these but as a casual toy collector, I began to realize how much of a godsend these 3D printers are. Plus, I know a few cosplayer friends and while I am not one, I imagine this will be a huge boon to them. That, and all the utility I can imagine with having a 3D printer at home is what drove us to write this article.

(sorry my grammer isn't the greatest working on it)

reading this i thought it was interesting. They first off have a cool marketing plan. I love how they are promoting their giveaway. Second with this THB the spec on this printer is not even worth it. It says that there is no knobs but you can calibrate it all with the screen. Most 3d printers have both knobs and screen calibration. This is so if mid build it goes off slightly during printing you can move it. I doubt you can do it with this printer.

Another point why are you printing at 100mm per second the quality of the build would be super low.

I have a 9000$ 3d printer at home and it can reach these speed only when the thing you are making in professionally made.

I dont wana get to far into it but i think if someone wants their first 3d printer they should get one that works not a free give away. One that says hey you dont even have to turn knobs as a bonus. Thats actually worse

Hey there, Ryan. Thanks for the well thought-out feedback.

We meant for this as a beginner's 3D printer. I can see that you have been around these things for quite some time, and this is why general opinions with these will greatly vary between experienced and newbie users. I am actually new to it and since we only have one for the giveaway, I was forbidden from being able to fiddle with it (that and the hardware is in a different country yet haha).

We operate with our giveaways on a limited budget but we try to make it work and right now we're trying to deviate from the usual coupons. That said, we'll take your opinions into consideration if we decide to giveaway another 3D printer.

My personal opinion is that I would rather test a free version before I spend my money for a better version, especially on something I have no idea on (3d printers)

 

To be honest thinking about the post I wrote and some people messaging me about it I have a different approach to 3d printers then most people. When i started out it was in highschool when we got a grant for a 10000 usd 3d printer and it was amazing. So you could say i started out with high aims for what a 3d printer should do. I guess for newer people using a 3d printer it would be better to buy a cheaper printer like this one in the give away. The thing is its like when people buy a drone for example when you get a 100$ drone you can only do so much and also it cant fly in the wind mostly for indoor purposes. But if you buy like a 400$ one you can have more fun with it and walk around it it and have fun outside. Only thing with cheaper printers is when you start making gears and stuff that move and have to exactly fit with other parts you will have that step to over come with printing things like this. Anyways good luck it really should be my business anyways its a free give away sorry and have a great day. Its a great idea for kids

 

Haha this! and on the notion that I already spend a bit on console games and other stuff, I consider 3D printers a luxury at this point in time. I mean, maybe if I cosplay which requires props, then 3D printers are almost a necessity. But we hope this at least provides something of value to the winner haha.

Wow that is a huge grant. Well, like they say, different strokes for different folks. Putting myself in your shoes, I would feel intimidated spending that amount of money on a hardware that I'm just starting to use, but it sounds like everything turned out ok for you so that's good.

As for drones, I personally know a friend who imports them and sells them, and I do know that $100 drones are far worse than $400 ones. I guess you could say that some hardware are better off bought at the higher price ranges, but we're not eliminating the incentives of getting something from the lower spectrum in terms of a newbie user just getting into the hobby and having a "practice" hardware before moving up to the better ones.

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't provide a test unit, and we cannot afford a spare one for testing at the moment. Thanks for the input, though.
