Feren Silver requesting a DNT for Potential Scam

List of offences you've committed and ban reason given to you: I believe the official ban reason is "temporary precaution", but I believe there was more discussions among the mods. Anyway, I decided in a moment of frustration to try and sell my RuneScape account and gold, while having a post for trying to purchase gold. The situation obviously looked bad and still doesn't look good. In all honesty I got caught in stupid situation I created and continued to try and lie my way out of it which made the situation 1000x worse than it should have been.

Anything you wish to add: This incident occurred in 2012. I just recently remembered the website and would like the opportunity to return. I know what I did was wrong and would fully accept a DNT if I am lucky enough to be allowed back. I know it's a long shot, but thank you for taking the time to consider it.

From my understanding you were banned due to the attempted and/or planned scamming of a significant amount of money and your banning was not just based off confusion and lies (you were an OMM after all).

I've also unarchived the 5-year old discussion thread regarding the initial ban, it contains full conversations between feren and other staff members and I encourage you all to read it before making a decision. This was absolutely an attempted scamquit and it's a shame that 5 years later he can't own up to it

 

No support. I was a part of the initial discussion that got you banned, and you were a shady piece of work then, and you still can't even admit your faults.

Reading through your precautionary ban reason, I would of liked to have you write up something more sincere and remorseful.

None the less, you've been banned for quite a long time now and having a DNT won't allow you to cause harm to the community.

I've had a look at the relevant evidence. From what I can tell, at the time (in 2011), the people who dealt with your case unequivocally felt you were trying to, as video put it, 'scam quit'. You say that you just made a bad mistake, and acknowledge selling an account with lots of RSGP on it while simultaneously buying RSGP 'looks bad'. You don't admit to 'scam quit[ing]'.

I've always said a precondition to DNT is telling us what it is we are supposed to forgive you for. What you say happened and what n4n0 and the many other staff members at the time who dealt with your case said what happened are inconsistent. Accordingly, I have to defer to the staff's judgment 5 years ago - the fact that 5 years has passed does not change anything on that front. It may be that the staff got it wrong 5 years ago: those members of staff including multiple admins at one point or another. Nothing leads me to believe they got it wrong. So accordingly, you haven't told us what it is we are supposed to forgive you for, and therefore you don't meet the precondition to a DNT.

I think you've served your ban time so I will be supporting a DNT.

Won't be supporting a pardon until you at least admit your faults.

 

What confuses me is how you still haven't said something along the lines of "Yes I was a piece of shit and tried to use my OMM status to scam around $5k."

I'm not sure how to add a reply to my original post, so if someone can add it I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'd like to apologize for the original DNT request not being well stated.

I absolutely take responsibility for the attempting to scam people with my status as OMM and reputation in the community. I am grateful (looking back) that I was caught before I could do any monetary damage to any users. I know what I did was wrong and that it isn't excusable. The attempt is just as bad as the action, if not worse. Heck, I don't even know if it'll ever be forgivable, and that's no one's fault but my own.

If there is anything I can do to help repair the damage I have caused please let me know because I want to try and make amends for my inexcusable behavior.
