This sort of toxicity is commonplace in that niche. Many were exposed to it and now are following suit.

 

People have become greedy, money over loyalty.

 

if this website doesn't shift focus and become popular with another game, its future is in jagex's hands. if runescape dies this website will die with it, but if runescape thrives, this website will thrive with it. i don't know the numbers, but i'd guess a large portion of this site's traffic comes from the Runescape market.

or another option is getting activity in the discussion sections, but i don't know how this website will compete with large forums like reddit, and the oldfags on this website don't really welcome new people in discussion usually just ignoring whatever they post so i don't think that's a viable option unless there is a change in oldfag thinking. most of the discussion forums are currently dead except the spam forum so we need to get more discussion in these sections. you literally have the same group of 10-15 elitists controlling every discussion on discord or the forums so how would a newcomer ever join the discussion?

in my honest opinion, one thing holding this website back is an elitist attitude with people who have ranks and have been on the website the longest. they essentially demotivate the newcomers from ever joining in conversation because the newcomers simply don't feel relevant. what's the point of joining Sythe and taking years to be a relevant member when they can join Reddit and become a relevant member in a day or two in terms of discussion? i've been here for 3 years and have used this website less and will probably stop in the near future (once school starts in a week) simply because I don't feel as relevant as other users in terms of opinion and input, whereas in a forum like Reddit, everyone is on the same playing field in terms of opinion and only meritocracy of opinion is upvoted no matter the status on the forum (with biases not being prevalent and holding users back).

He wasnt in the dicing scene. Sept hadn't hosted dice in years. He became a Odd's staker. He made a ton but im guessing he lost with odds using x'ers. Sept had bils usually

 

Just to be clear, Yes sept did scam. He could have easily scammed 10x this amount. He has flawless reputation in the staking community. He could of easily walked away with 10-20b. He didnt scam one of his friends. It's still ruthless what he did but at least he didnt hit his family/friends. Knowing what I know about Sept I wouldnt be bothered doing business with him. We've been friends for years and I honestly dont think he'd scam me.

Not defending just pointing out that this could have been much worse. I guess I'm just trying to see the silver lining in a good friend scamming.
