Hey guys. Pretty straightforward thread here regarding Microsoft stock on the NASDAQ market. I'm new to the stock market but I've been studying up a good bit and practicing using training programs and investing fake currency. However, I'm still pretty oblivious as far as predicting trends is concerned. One big stock I've been thinking about is Microsoft. It seems like a titan that will not likely fall any time in the neat future -- in fact, perhaps even the opposite. For example:

Here we can see some very obvious fluctuations in the day and week trends, although not by a very great deal. But if we start to increase our scope of reference and look at the bigger picture we can see something different.

The longer the timeline we look at, the more distinct this particular stock's uptrend becomes. And in my opinion that is a very good sign. Warren Buffet once said, "Invest in the stock market as if it would not reopen for another 10 years." This is a philosophy I have been trying to integrate into my mentality when considering stocks and companies to invest in. Not to mention the fact that Microsoft -- especially after the advent of Windows 10 and all of their Xbox One integration -- appears to be a largely dominant force in the tech and gaming scene.

However, as I said earlier, I am still a newbie and the reason for posting this thread is not to propagate my own opinion but to ask for yours. What do you think of Microsoft's reliability as an investment prospect? Are they stable enough? Do you think they will continue to rise steadily or perhaps they are merely reaching their peak and we will see a decline in the near future? Would this possible decline be an opportune time to invest, perhaps anticipating another rise in the not-so-immediate future? Or is it wise to hop on the train now and ride out the bumps over the coming years before individual stocks become too expensive to realistically buy in a useful quantity?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

As far as buying stocks right now in general, I think we could be a bit high and I'd wait for some kind of correction next year before taking any significant interest in Microsoft. If you believe in the fundamentals I can't tell you not to buy in for the long-term, but I had to select "Yes, but wait", because often when you think it's the best time to buy at all time highs, you'll bite too soon before the discounts come out.

edit: If you really want to participate in any continuation of this rally, but want limited downside, maybe try buying some microsoft calls?

Please give us the stock you are referring to.
