Wait, do you not have an Archer rank?
So i'm 20 years old and I live at home. Yeh that's not considered a good thing in todays society, however i'm not a dead beat I have a full time job, i'm a university student and I also do shows at night time. I can more then afford to move out of home but stuff like my culture and upbringing was all about being a tight family and considering my dad works over seas for a long period of time and only visits for a short period I'm like the man of the house for my mother and sister, but I do desperately want to move on with my life however don't feel the need to abandon them, they kind of know that when uni is complete (end of next year hopefully) I will be moving out and considering my sister is only a year older then me and has a fiance' and is moving in with him when they get married next year my parents are okay for me to move out then.... But people like my Ex used to always kind of give me shit for it (although no surprise from her cause she was a cunt) but like i want to know is it really weird that i'm 20 and live at home? hell pretty much 80% of my friends my age have moved out and they find it really weird that I haven't yet... Kind of want other peoples opinions rather then an advise kind of thing

Edit: excuse the shit grammar

I was joining the Army at 18, was applying for infantry officer, legit was my way out of home but I got denied considering I needed more leadership experience for an officer rank, and they offered me only as a regular infantry soldier which for Australia had an 18 month waiting list so I just said fuck it and went to uni

I don't think its anything to be ashamed of. I myself plan to live with my parents during Uni (last year of high-school), since it will reduce my living costs drastically. Just point out the advantages and if people still have a problem with it then they're faggots and you don't really want to associate yourself with them anyways.

Who cares what your ex thinks now, she isnt a part of your life anymore. There is nothing wrong with living at your parents while doing uni. I mean for one, you save money on what you would spend on if you moved out. I believe you can afford to move out, but how much would you be able to save compared to living at your parent's. That is thousands of dollars a year.

In the end, if it comes down to it, you will be better prepared financially than if you moved out. Now it's a whole different story if you were already done with uni and have a full time job. Here is an example of how it benefits you, you will still always be open to moving out at any given time up until you are done with uni. Maybe by then, you're offered a more lucrative job some place else. By then you could be ready to move at any given time if necessary. By no means am I encouraging you to live there even after uni, by that point it would be time to move out. Dont move out because your friends already has, if you really dont want to be there because it has a negative impact on you, then I'd suggest to move. Be smart when it comes to a big life decision, don't follow a trend, start it with a better reason.

No, it's not weird. Most Aussies live at home till they finish University. That's a fact; you can google or check the ABS.

Things are getting more expensive, jobs are cutting wages, it is completely normal to be living at home at 20, unless of course you're just sitting there leeching off your parents like A LOT of people are, but as you said you have a full time job, you're in a school, it's completely normal, you'll move out when you feel ready and can actually stay on your feet.

99% of my friends live at home, as do I. I am 21 (22 this December) and still a Uni student. Most of the people I know who are below 24 still live at home, nothing to be ashamed of at all.

I plan on getting my own flat when I finish uni next July and get a full time job

I still live at home and I'm 20 and a junior at college. I'm moving in with my girlfriend whenever she gets her shit together and gets out of her moms house (she's being slow). I'm still here because I didn't want to live in a dorm and it saves me a lot of money that I really couldn't afford anyways. While you're going to university and still getting on your feet there is no reason to not live at home until you've got your shit in order. So what if you're technically an adult, you are using the support system you have to make your life easier and there's no shame in that.

Okay so i guess i haven't really attended to the cultural diversity, guys for us in australia the legal age limit is 18, you are no longer considered underage or anything, so being 20 for us is like being 23- and still living at home, how hold is too old? If it was upto me i wouldn't move out, hell i would buy a house and put my parents in it with me, but I think that defeats the purpose of being an independant person, also in regards to the ex she is was 24 *cougar* so it made sense she was out, hell if i am 24 and still living at home or least not providing my share of rent etc, would slightly be disappointed in myself...

Too old is when you are done with uni, have a job, and still leech of your parents. Say you are done with uni right now, you have a full time job and can move out. Thats when you're too old, unless you're saving for something before you move out and living there is a temporary thing, like a few months, not years. Some parents would start charging their son to stay after they are 18 or sometimes 21. But thats them preparing you for whats going to come, not like they need the money at that point.

16 is considered an adult in Scotland (where you can live yourself and leave home without consent), and I'd still say 20 and at home is nothing.

Wtf 16!? Not to argue against it, just surprised. There was no way Id even consider moving out when I was 16. I was still young and foolish and had lots to learn. Then again it's not like that law forces anyone to move out, its just a scary thought that when your 16 some parents might expect you to move out.

Yeah, a bit more lenient than the rest of the UK. Some info here:

http://www.youngscot.org/info/200-what-can-you-do-at-what-age

I moved out just before I turned 17.

I moved out when I was 18 to go to university. Best decision I ever made.

I didn't think I was ready, but once I finished high school, I knew I was going to be going to uni. It happened really quickly, and I was split 50/50 on going to a state school and moving out or going to community college and staying home. I ended up going to uni. The first week or two was slow, and I missed home, but after that, it got better. Now I've been moved out for over a year, and I love it. I don't ever want to move back home. The independence is incredible.

Don't get my wrong, I love my parents. I go back home during breaks to visit. But the independence you get when you move out is unmatched.

I am 22 and married. My husband and I live with his mom due to her health. I am not a fan of it, but she is family now so I have to respect it.

I guess I am in a bit of a different situation than you, but I lived with my Mom until I was 21. No big deal in my book.

I'll be in my parents house till 22 when I finish university nothing to be ashamed about at all. Most parents would rather you live with them and get ahead than be stuck with massive amounts of debt. Just my opinion.

Don't let it bother you why rush out and then have the chance of having to move back in if things go wrong? Honestly just take your time and relax and when it's time it's time.
