Banned for Hacked?

A few days ago I attempted to login to my account. And it said that I was banned permanently for the reason "Hacked". This didn't really make sense to me at first, but then I realized that it must have been because my account is from 2006, and has large time gaps in between posting. I also remembered what my last post was (from whenever I was buying off of Steam Sales thread.) And the guy also had a low year account and was banned. I then assume that a moderator stumbled across the thread and thought that the user had hacked older accounts. I bought some Steam accounts from the seller quickly because I saw that he had an old account, and I assumed he was trustworthy. He also mentioned for me to +rep his thread so that he could get off the ground a bit. Which I did, which also seems extremely fishy/unlikely for something like that to happen. But it seems so random for me to be banned on some kind of hunch or whim that my account had been compromised or that he hacked/bought old accounts to +rep himself with. Is there anyone that can see my side of the story or bring some light to this? Thanks.
