What are the rates of scammers?

Does anyone know out of 10people willing to do a trade, how many would try to scam? Just a thought I had in my head

I would agree, around 5/10. Depends who you deal with, many scammers are just ban evaders or new people who don't care about getting banned.. If you deal with your trades smartly shouldn't be an issue.

 

We're hovering over about 74.9% rate of scamming so I'd say 7/10 or 8/10

It's high but it's easily avoidable if you trade wisely and don't put too much trust in those whom you do not know. I've only been scammed once through a chargeback in the hundreds of trades I've done here on Sythe.

 

i think its really ~7/10.maybe even 8/10.If you look at the big picture, how many people actually stay on sythe for a long time, its depressing :S So many scammers and low lifes...

If I was a new user and was planning on trading someone without reputation I would use a middleman. Do not trust anyone who hasn't earned trust from vouches.

 

depends on the market. name sales? upwards of 7/10. account sales? 7/10. gold sales, maybe a bit less, 6.5/10. more niche markets like neopets might be lower

 

Well it depends. When I had a gold business on here, only 1/100 actually tried to scam, but I weeded out a number of people I considered high risk (approximately 20% of customers, probably overkill) before I delivered to them. Perhaps some scammers didn't even try me.

I'd say the 5/10 number is accurate for people who 1) approach you and 2) want to do a super high risk trade like accounts. But that's not the case for item sales.

 

I'd have to agree with this. When I had my rsgp shop I didn't run into issues very often, mostly paypal chargebacks and I'd personally estimate the likelihood of those at 2-3/10 (at the time at least) - not too sure about now days, I've been out of the market too long, and there's also a good chance scammers didn't bother trying to contact me due to my level of trust.

Id guesstimate 5/10 these days is an accurate number.

People can always become/go to the dark side, so it's a possible 10/10 in some peoples mindset, whereas those who strive to keep a clean reputation, would say 5/10.

 

9/10 but as everyone said you can easily avoid lt, use mm if you have feeling that something is wrong. Accounts selling is more and more dangerous, i personally never buy/sell them because you can never be guaranteed what other will be up to in future. As we see there are only small number of old, not banned players.
