How long does it take to remove backgrounds from images

As title says?

I got someone whos gunna do 6 images and remove the background for me and hes quoted 8hrs for each image? So thats like 46 hrs for all the backgrounds to be removed.

Is that really how long images take to edit 6 images or is this business over charging me?

No, that's way too long. It varies on the graphic designer, but I doubt it would take 8 hours to crop out a render.

Using the pentool, it would take me around 30-90 minutes depending on the complexity of the image.

 

It'd be 8 hrs total for all of the 6 images. He's trying to rip you off or is absolutely terrible with the pen tool.

 

I agree with the comments above, on 8 hours you can probably cut out all 6 of them.

 

If you're experienced with photoshop/illustrator your pen tooling should be pretty good as it's a very important tool. 8 hours for each image is too long, 8 hours for all 6 is a lot more reasonable.

there are a few methods 20mins- hour depending on resolution and complexity (glows detailed hair etc)

 

It really depends of the complexity as others said but 8h for 1 pic... Thats wayyyy too much.
