Nothing nerdy about exploring the path less traveled. It quenches the thirst for adventure.

I understand the point isn't getting good stuff, I just wanted to add a little extra. It would have been the cherry on the cake, ya feel? The cake is already great.

Yeah the one I was looking for had a decoy like it said "just chilling by the roots" and led to a place with a huge ass tree in the center of a pathway but it ended up being near a tiny tree 10 feet to the right. I felt so accomplished when I saw it :p Hopefully gonna get into this more often :)

You should I found a few yesterday one was a level 2.5 it was pretty Challenging it was tougher then I expected it to be took me about a half hour to find the cache. There are people who get really really into it. Not sure if that will be me yet or not.

Honestly I would just get out to try it what's the worse that could happen? You spend a few hours outdoors and find out you don't like it? I thought I was going to hate it to be honest with you. But I enjoy being outdoors so I actually grew found of it.

They say at least 90% of them are still intake I have found over 50 and only 2 of them have not been there. You're not necessarily going to find it right away. Some are a lot tougher then others.

There used to be one out the back of my house in the woods but it got nicked I think.

It's a nice thing in theory but there's always the ones who spoil it for everyone. Or the ones who get muggled.

There are different difficulties so you don't necessarily have to do the hardest ones. You're able to filter them out.

While some aren't there. Almost every single one of the ones that I have been to have been there.

I might replace the one local to me and put a new log book/tub there - to be honest I haven't cached in ages and this thread kinda reminded me about it, which gives me some more outdoorsy stuff to do when I'm bored.

That's honestly what got me started on it. It's free entertainment and honestly if you go with a group of friends it's actually a lot of fun especially if you're into doing the harder ones level 4 and higher which actually take a lot of work.

    Geocaching

I have only gone Geocaching a couple times myself, but a good friend of mine has been doing it for years and it's quite interesting to see the time people dedicate to making some of these cashes.

There is a water canal close to where I live, he went to the water dam that seperates two parts and took one of the 1 inch bolts out of the top metal plate. We worked in a machine shop at the time and he brought it to work with him. We cut the bolt in half and threaded it. (So you can unscrew the bottom half of the bolt off of the nut while the top half stays in place.)

It is in an extremely easy place to get to so the physical demanding category was rated as a 2, but the difficulty was a 10.

You have to lean over the dam, reach your hand on the inside and just start turning different bolts until one of the bottom halfs unscrews.
We thought this would be one of those insane cashes that NO one would ever find.

To our surprise, there are over 10 different signatures on the little slip inside of this bolt. I know for a fact I would have never thought to look for it there.

I'd like to do it more myself sometime.

Yeah we found a level 5 underneath a sewer grate and it only had like 4 signatures on it. Sometimes people spend a crazy amount of time on this.
