IP Audit

On the personal support section you're allowed to post anonymous on there, now what's the point of doing that if you can perform an IP Audit on someone's Sythe profile and see if they posted anonymous? It defeats the purpose of posting anonymous if someone can eventually find who posted it.

 

Use a proxy.

yeah but you cant specifically link them to a thread. also people post anomalously to ras and disputes.

Support, posting in personal support anonymously shouldn't log your IP and therefore show up in the audit.

 

I'm saying for Personal Support reasons, people feel uncomfortable posting certain things in there (Real life situations they're going through, or just something that may seem embarrassing towards them). It shouldn't be logged in the Personal Support section at least.

 

No support, sure it logs your IP but an individual would have to run an IP audit on your profile, go through the threads, and find your personal support post to make any sort of correlation. Seems like a pointless addition, I do not believe there is enough (if any) of a problem to make such an implementation worth it.

 

When posting anonymously, does it show the IP of the anonymous poster? I've never really noticed it before. Or does it just show on an IP audit of a sythe user, that they've posted anonymously before?

 

Never noticed this before, but assume it would have already been implemented given the nature of anonymous posting..

 

i believe it shows your posted anonymously but regular users cant search that way so all they know is you've posted in either:

-personal support forum
-ras (as anonymous )
- dispute forum (as anonymous)

 

If that's the case, then no support. All they see is that you posted, they don't know what you posted about or in what section. That shouldn't be too worrisome for a Sythe user.

If you really don't want people to know you posted in Personal support, which I can understand, use a proxy.

I, personally, don't see the need to adapt this system.
What if the person posted in the Personal Support from an IP associated with a known ban evader? It wouldn't show up in the audit if we were to remove those sections from the audit.
The vader would walk away unharmed until they slip up a second time.


Worst case scenario there, but it still could happen.

 

You're worried about vaders using the personal support forum? And that worry trumps the non-vading community in regards to its usage?

Moreover, vaders are going to vade regardless. Them using a proxy themselves already trumps the IP tracking that you're worried about them using in PS. There's no real fear of vaders abusing us for personal support...

Just stating what would change if your suggestion would be implemented.

 

Use a proxy if you don't want people to somehow find your anonymous post(s).
