Simple as they want to be alone and have a very personal problem. Others don't want to spend much. Alcohol is a demon to some, but is something people have been indulging in for millennia. Americans are spending more on it in dining places and bars recently, though. However, it has absolutely nothing to do with increased usage, but rather with higher prices.
