Hey all,

MODS - I looked into the rules, and it only states doing these is a ban, not discussing the profit from them.

Just a discussion thread on blackhats, do you think breaking the law, putting yourself in constant risk, and possibly harming hundreds of thousands if not millions of people is worth the mass income?

A select black hats can make millions a month, and considering how easy it is to make thousands a month, with the majority of people making this are breaking the law.

But where do Sythe's members stand when it comes to breaking the law for profit?

How do you feel about it? Would you be interested in doing so for money as stated?

I don't mind breaking the law, that's fine and dandy.

What I do have a problem with is stealing from someone who doesn't have expendable income. I can take from the rich, as it doesn't effect them. But take a 100$ bill from someone who needs it for rent and you're a dirt bag.

Since this is the internet and I can't decipher the 2, I'll never do it.

Wrong. You can see a person as just someone far away over the internet, who doesn't really exist untill you yourself are scammed. I got scammed 700$ worth of RS3 about a year ago, and it fucked my life up horribly for about 2 months. Had to borrow money from my girlfriend to pay my rent and work a ton of weekend shifts I didn't want to.

I couldn't ever do it because from that experience alone I know how much it can suck, and the person doing it probably doesn't see it.

I totally see where you're coming from, if I, hypothetically of course were to steal, it would be from someone where it wouldn't be a loss, or from someone that earnt that money in an awful way. I could never steal form a child, or adult working hard. I think that's sick, and pathetic.

If you have the skillset to steal millions, you'll have the skillset to decipher who your target is;)

Glad you asked. I view harming the right people for funds, can be acceptable. I also feel using someone without their permission (At no harm to them) is okay as well, but I could never be someone to harm some innocent person for my own personal gain.

Stealing is wrong no matter what shape or form it may come in. Currently I work hard at university which will likely land me in the upper-middle class when I'm older. Do I think it would be fair because I'm better off than someone who didn't make something with their life that I or another individual should be a target of black hat? Obviously not. That's why I don't see the logic behind "depending on their financial situation". As far as my opinion on black hat, it disgusts me and no amount of money would be worth the lack of humanity you show when you're willing to steal from other individuals.

How can you even say that in good conscience? Just because the person has worked hard and is better off for themselves then it becomes acceptable to steal from them? I'm sorry but that's terrible.

Personally I'm not against "blackhat" activity as a whole, (I think things such as bringing down the NSA website or hacking into a database to reveal incriminating information about a corrupt politician could be considered morally justifiable) but I am strongly against any blackhat activity that involves fraud or theft. I could never imagine robbing someone just because I was short on cash.

I just would love to steal money from the government, nobody else. They have been stealing our money forever, they'r suppose to work for us, lol?

95% of the high class people are stealing from each of us every day. Don't pretend you're blind. Software companies, stock markets, Wall Street, media companies. They all make millions off of our hard work. A janitor at google works harder then the CEO, but doesn't make an equal amount of money. Why?

Simple economics - the same reason pop stars and sports players make massive amounts of money as well.

To start with, the janitor's skill set is much more basic than the CEO at Google. Anyone can become a janitor, it requires little training and no education. Nearly any physically capable person in the United States could fulfill the janitor's roles with only a few weeks of training/experience. You are implying that people should be rewarded equally based on their physical expenditure. In such a case, why would people spend thousands of dollars on education or providing complex services?

The CEO has a huge impact on the success of the company. Choosing the right CEO at Google could be the difference between a $1 billion profit and a $1 billion loss. All from one single person.

If the CEO of Google does not show up to work, or drops dead, Google stock could tank solely on the news. If the janitor doesn't show up, or drops dead, the company would be completely unaffected financially. Their individual duties have essentially 0 financial impact on the firm.

From what it sounds like to me, you are just trying to justify your actions/beliefs. Stealing is stealing, plain and simple. If you are upset about wealth inequality, that's a perfectly valid sentiment, but the answer to the problem is not stealing or blackhat.

What is blackhat? :o

From the Sythe.org rules:
"Blackhat"/Malicious Activities: Using software tools for deceptive, malicious, or harmful intent (Hacking/DDoSing/Social Engineering)

I agree 100% with R2P's post. Stealing is stealing, simple as that.

CEOs are far, far more important than any entry-level employee, and work much harder as well. Top managers work essentially around the clock, they are liable for billions of dollars in industry, thousands of jobs, and even more billions invested through the stockholders. Being a CEO requires a skill set that very few people have, and requires decades of experience, another 6 years of post secondary education (which can lead to hundreds of thousands in debt) and a lot of pressure.

Janitors are nowhere near that level.

Anyway, on topic. Blackhat knowledge can be used for good (e.g., whistleblowing) though obviously most of the time is it for profit. If I participated in Blackhat activities, the best rationalization I could come up with is that if I didn't take X person's money, someone else would. In some cases, I believe that there is such thing as an honest thief, but anyone who does it purely for the sake of destroying someone's life is disgusting to me, or anyone who does it to make far, far more money than they need from it.

I don't like the idea of blackhat activities. Stealing, hacking, fraud etc is ethically wrong. But I do support greyhat activites as long as the greyhat is doing it for the right reasons. Like finding an exploit or vulnerabilities in a website and reporting it to the owner, rather than another hacker.
