Accepting stolen gold against the rules -- schedule of punishments

You all know that accepting stolen gold is against the rules.

Firstly, if there is evidence of an actual trade where stolen gold is KNOWINGLY accepted then that is treated as a normal scam report. The gold is returned if possible to the person from whom it was stolen, and the parties to the trade are banned accordingly.

Second, in the much more common case where someone attempts to sell what they claim is stolen gold to another party and the other party agrees to buy it, but no actual trade takes place, here's what happens:
    1. The buyer gets a warning about their worker (or in the event that they are a sole proprietor, a warning about their own behaviour.)
    2. On the second offence (for the same worker) the buyer is told to fire their worker or at minimum take them off purchasing. Penalty for non-compliance with this is a week-long ban for the buyer and their workers from the site.
    3. On third offence (for the same worker) the buyer and their workers are banned for a month.

Concerned members are also encouraged to take their complaints to PayPal or Google Wallet (whichever the buyer is using). Accepting stolen virtual goods is against the terms of service for these payment processors. Since sythe.org has limited staff resources, we would prefer if you could at least attempt to settle the dispute outside the site first.

Great rule. I like that the stolen gold is returned to the owner and justice is served. :)

It's nice that this has finally been formally addressed, hopefully it can be put to rest now. Thanks Richard.

I see this being easily exploitable.. people are going to cry wolf to get people banned. How would you know if it was stolen or not?

KNOWINGLY accepting stolen goods. If the seller says they're stolen, and they accept them anyways, then they'll be punished.

I think there should be a person banned for scamming someone in the first place. After that the scammer sells the gold to a buyer from sythe. I guess.

    In the same way...
What if Player A scammed Player B.
Player B contacts Player C so he can sell his gold.
Player C buys it without know it was stolen gold from Player A.

    What happens?

What if you stole gold from someone, and then sold it back to them? You would be giving the gold back to the person from whom it was stolen..

What I'm wondering is... who would outright say "Hey, this gold was stolen / hacked... now that I got that out of the way, you wanna buy it?" I'm not sure, but I feel like that just never happens.

Regardless, I'm simply surprised that people do this.

Well, I suppose if they're wanting you to wait you'd be like 'Hey, I just haxed this gold I need to offload it really quick and really cheap.'

    Good rule.
