    Addition to the user/ip audit
    Would it be possible to add a column in that states if the user is banned? Not sure if it would be hard or not. Seems like it would be pretty easy.

    Suggestions throughout the thread:
    Add Column for account status (banned/active/inactive)
    Add column for static/dynamic ip
    merge userid/username and place a hyperlink to the user's profile
    Bold the ip that the account was created on (from the other thread)

    If you type
    "Username site:sythe.org"
    it will 100% of the time bring up their profile and their posts.

    Really easy, really fast.



    however, the addition of the column would be fine as it would allow individuals to see right off the bat if a user (like myself) that uses a large univ. public wifi, to see if it is just another trader or if it is just a second person.

    I know this. And I have been taking their user id number and just passing it over the current one I have pulled up. But it would be much easier to just incorporate it into the search if it would be easy to do.

    Either make the name a clickable link to their profile or another column stating whether they're "active" or "banned". Maybe an "inactive" if they haven't logged in for 6 months+?

    The active/inactive/banned idea is something that would be great!

    Just make sure if they are "banned," that that supersedes "inactive"

    If so, then definitely +1

    This is the part I'd support. You can get all the information such as banned or inactive at their profile. On the assumption it can be done and is quick and easy to do, support for sure. If it's too much of a hassle, I'm sure all the detectives can keep Googling for a little while longer ;)

    I added profile links.

    The banned/unbanned one is a lot more difficult to add;

    Basically the IP lookup system runs on a separate database optimised just for IP lookups. This is because IP lookups are very resource intensive and would cause read locking on the main database (i.e. slow it right down) if it weren't separate. Just to illustrate, the way IP lookups work is like so: Say person A has IPs X and Y. All users connected with X or Y are put in a list. Then all the IPs of those users in that list are scanned the same way, and all the users that scan generates are put back in the list. In other words no matter how you slice the problem, the database has to look through all our IP records several times for one IP look up. We have IP records for every user and every post on the site.

    In order to add a 'ban status' column I'd have to join it to the main database. This isn't really an option at the moment, sorry.

    We are not able to reliably determine whether an IP is static or dynamic. (Unless you can think of a way?) I mean it's really up to ISPs how long they want to make their IP leases to their customers.
