Sythe logic:

R2, you must pay for the gold (which was banned near-instantly when I logged in)! Manage to get the gold unbanned, sell it ASAP.

R2, how could you buy the gold that you were already ordered to pay for!

Furthermore, here is him refusing to confirm after the char was unbanned that he was in control and had the GP back:

You'll notice he doesn't reply to me trying to separate myself from the trade. If I let him walk away, and he gets banned again, he will try to hold me responsible. I had no choice but to follow through on the trade.

 

You first tried to defend yourself by trying to avoid paying by searching him and finding he was involved in black hat activities. Sythe banned viou for knowingly trading with users who got their gold illegitimately. You used this exact point before the account was banned, claiming it was most likely illegitimately obtained, it could have prevented payment if staff said so. Then you still go ahead and trade with him after you said yourself that it was most likely illegitimately obtained.

Although if it got banned, it could have been worse for both of you. In the end everyone wins. I do see your point. In the end I suppose I dont have a problem, you avoided something that could have happened, and at the same time made a profit. Who could say they would have done something different if they were in r2p's shoes. Most people are comparing it with viou, and a lot of people also thought viou's ban was unjustified. All we have are our opinions.

The Sythe logic is more like he got his account and gp back, and the whole thing where viou was banned for knowingly trading with users who obtained gold illegitimately.
