Unfortunately here is why it will flop:

Anyone remember Runescape Classic? Hell, maybe its still available to play, I know that at one point they made it available to only players who have played themselves, but previously it was available to anyone, even non RSC vets.

Now most of you probably haven't played long enough to know what I'm talking about.

But basically RSC servers were available for those wishing to play the classic game.

The result?

A core of a couple hundred players, maybe a thousand, and various other players who logged on once every few weeks/months when bored of RS2.

The exact same thing is going to happen with '07 servers.

Sure, it'll be fun and exciting for a few weeks, maybe even months but most players of RS today don't even remember '07 runescape (aka they joined post 07) and will go back to the main, updated game that they are most familiar with.

And the veterans of RS who actually remember what it was like? Well most of them have moved on and quit playing. I decided to check sythe like I do once every quarter or so (3 months) and when I saw talks of the RS 07 server I was confused until of course I hit the actual rs website. And although this is exciting news, and I can say that I will definately be purchasing membership and playing rs for the first time in years, I can't honestly say I'll be commited. I've moved on and I know I wont be dedicating my time full time to this game anymore, and after the initial excitement wears off I'll probably never log back on. And I imagine of those RS vets that even check the RS website, most will be like me.


Now to make matters worse - there is going to be an additional fee attached unless 500k votes are reached, which lets be real, is likely not going to happen.


So the end result?

Just look at what happened to RSC.

There will be a small core of dedicated players probably a few K strong, and many newbie players who mainly play the main game and occasionally log onto RS 07 when bored.
