[14th May] EliteSwitch v4 is Finally Here!

Going to finally download this tonight if I think on. Still can't verify my version of windows, on this laptop. As it's not allowing ActiveX to run. Hence why I can't access Microsoft downloads - and that very precious .Net Framework 4.

Have you got any further setting up the news page? As I'm still up for editing it etc' for you. If I can get to grips with it.

Lol nah been pretty busy irl, i couldn't find 'my' version of cute news. i need to locate my external HDD with all that shit on it, so i can upload via ftp. I'll try get around to doing it this weekend.

Update wise, dunno
not for awhile probably, i've got the auto updater 90% working, just need to make it launch the application after download has succeeded now.
Also tweaked the following things;
browser default size
about page
hosted by message
combat level to adventure log panel

focused alot of time on the website, now that i've got that completed to a 'satisfactory' level i'll get back into coding. Wanna add a few more utilities and give the code a general clean up before i lose myself in it
then i'll release an update

Question.
Do you think i should return back to the old school loading screen? Where it was just a splash page?

I'm kind of leaning towards this, as i'm getting sick of having to click 'Launch' when i start it up everytime....Post your thoughts.

 

I'd also lean towards the splash screen, as I highly doubt anyone other than myself and a select few users will read the patch notes . Maybe just have the patch notes in the 'Help' tab, so that they're still accessible.

Hold a competition for a splash image to be used, the winner has their Sythe username shown in the credits page . Unless you already have one .

But yer don't actually have a splash image at the moment. The competition sounds like a good idea
And i'll also use the idea of the patch notes as well, i was just gonna do away with it, but fuck it i'll keep em in the help section like you said.

Alright i will finally be getting an update out this weekend!
I MIGHT make this version be the Official version....no more beta, just trying to iron out a few small problems with my auto updater.

There will still be no settings at this stage unfortunately .... but they are coming

bought another car this weekend so been pretty busy sorting that shit out. but i'm doing some coding right now, hopefully i'll be able to tie off enough loose ends to get an update out.

Will still be in beta, wanna get the credits and newspage working for the official release, also haven't testing the auto updater enough to make sure it works 100%

Updated to v0.7 Beta.
Changes / Updates include.

• Switched back to the old style splash / loading screen.
• Cleaned up code in every form apart from the main form.
• Added the world clock (accounts for every timezone in the world).
• Added a launch Windows Media Player button in the music tab.
• Made a link to an Web IRC client on my own server & linked it to EliteSwitch.
• As stated above new easier to use Web IRC.
• Fixed True Fullscreen bug.
• Added combat calculator to the adventure log.
• Fixed re-sizing issue within the Multi-Log form.
• Added auto updating (not tested!).
• Changed all data paths to your Operating System special application data folder (this fixes the have to run as admin problem).
• Added an 'About' form.
• Roughly commented all code.
• Updated all links to point to the new server.

Features i'll be working on for the next version include.

• Recent usernames drop down list added to the common textbox's like highscores, adventure log etc.
• Server status.
• Ensure the auto updater works correctly.
• Insert the splash image created by Kinaesthic.
• Get the news page up and running.
• Get the credits page up.
• Added an EliteSwitch folder into the OS special data folder.

That's weird, i tried it yesterday 28/03/2011 at around 7pm GMT. On my phone, to see if any comments / changes had been made by you or John. Which worked. When I came back to it later at 11pm, it said it was unavailable.

How long did you pay for hosting?
