Feedback for inactive mods.

If you have more important things to do and can't find time for Sythe, leave and come back when you do. I hear it said over and over, nobody cares, just get over yourself and leave the position if you don't have time for it. I know you feel like a superstar with a colored name, but God's honest truth, nobody gives a fuck.

I may seem harsh here, but I know the thought process; you earned this rank, why should you have to give it up, I understand that, I really do. But the fact is if you're moderating a large forum, you have to have initiative, and just look at yours, if you're moderating just to get mod logs, then there's something wrong there, and you need to think about that.

That's it, just decide for yourself whether you're here for the coloured name or for the community, whatever your decision is, good luck with it.

 

So do you consider me inactive since I only get on limited time, but when I am on I do more than some mods do in a month.

Pretty much this. There's so many other people who deserve a shot at staff and just meeting the quota isn't going to cut it these days, sections are dying and the staff needs uplifting. If you have IRL problems or can't commit to the community, give someone else a shot.

 

Agreed. Although staff have real life commitments, and they should always come before an online site; I feel if we want Sythes activity to increase, and grow in users staff simply meeting the bare minimum of the required mod logs isn't helping.

Yes, there is nothing wrong with being preoccupied and busy, however just doing the bare minimum isn't really helping the site, when it is needed most, especially now. I've got nothing against staff members who are busy and whatnot, however, if your true priority is wanting Sythe to succeed, then knowing when to hand the reins over is vital.

I'm busy mostly all week and still get over the quota. Basically what you two are saying is we should have only people as mods that are on 24/7 and I've noticed the upper staff is getting older. I'm 26 and have a real life, I have to work for a living 50+ hours a week, juggle my personal life with my gf after work then fit time in to come here. When I'm on I'm always doing stuff here.

 

No, that's not what they're saying at all, I just want the whole staff to realize this, NOBODY is saying this, nobody will EVER say this, and nobody even thinks that. Stop being so defensive and realize there are other mods, they're not referring to you djweasel, you have no reason to be defensive. If the upper staff is getting older, does that mean they should stay mod while not caring about the community? I don't think so. Anyway, djweasel, they're not referring to you.

They're referring to mods like Corey, who ask to come back and then do fuck-all. If you're going to do fuck-all then do it as someone who's not on staff. There are also other mods who just do spam reports and even those, barely, namely sectionals do this, why bother, dude? Just leave if you're busy and put Sythe on the back-burner for a little while, come back when you have time and can participate in the community.

 

You're taking it too personally. I'm not having a go at anyone, and I'm clearly not saying people have to be online 24/7. I said, simply doing the bare minimum isn't a great way to help Sythe. I for one, think you're doing great.

Agreed. Please for the love of god, if you have no time or are busy with other things, LEAVE. We have a suspended staff for a reason. The fact of the matter is you can be replaced with someone 10x better than you who also has more time. New people come and old people go all the time. If you're only staying to keep that title to make more money or to stay trusted, fuck off.

Also, some staff should stop getting so defensive whenever feedback is posted about any other staff member. I realize you are a team, but don't sugarcoat things, tell the truth how it is.

And why wouldn't they be? They offer more to the community than someone who is on every 2 days for 10 minutes and does "behind the scenes" shit. Nobody cares about that, they want something that's tangible, something they can see. (Not directed at you.)

Not at all, DJ. I see you actively around the forum or see your posts when I'm online, you're not anywhere close to some mods I had in mind. You're doing your job well. What I have a problem with the select few who only do scam/spam reports and the odd "Locked." or "Moved." here and there and rarely just post around or get involved.

 

See heres why I get defensive, theres alot of people questioning me about why I don't get on enough and such.

But I do agree people like Giddy were a waste of staff, did nothing and was on PC all the time. Corey just came back and he's gonna be fine, but I do agree there are some mods that need to go since they are just clinging to life by barely making quota.

 

Stop defending Corey. I know you two are great friends, just cut the bullshit. No one has anything against him, so again, neither him nor you should take it personally.

 

staff need to stop white knighting for eachother, let the people addressed defend themselves. chances are they wont because they arent active in the community and dont read threads outside of the odd scam report. if someone cant defend their position for themselves then they obviously dont give a fuck. theres mods that dont do shit . everyone knows it, they need to leave .

Inactive mods should just resign, just meeting a quota doesn't make you intact, we users don't know what is happening '' behind the scenes '' so why have this nonsense and excuse? Corey hasn't done a single thing when he was made Staff again, let the mods who are inactive ( You know who i'm talking bout ) Just resign and give other more active people a shot, if you have a life and are to busy just resign, but don't make the '' Real life '' an excuse, take for example Weasel - He only has a Phone, is 26 Years old and has a girlfriend, works 50+ Hours a week and does shitton more work than most who DO have Pc's and don't even work, Weasel is a true example of a Moderator who actively helps the community, even if he has a hard time.

 

I'm curious whats your opinion on having high activity do you think a mod should be more focused on community and achieve minimal quota or the opposite?

Giddy used to be active in the community and was still criticized he may have acted immature but it appealed to the community and was demoted and criticized for keeping bare minimal on the quota but was never recognised for his community involvement.

Whereas there are mods who hit high on quotas and make almost no public appearance whatsoever in the community and are still criticized for not making public appearances.

Then there are mods who have random activity spikes once or twice a week to hit their quotas and still over due the quota assigned but the same as above are criticized for making bare minimal appearances.

Everyone's different and everyone has different opinions of what a moderators position should be.

The only way to have an extremely community focused staff team is to be overstaffed which leads to even more problems, I know when I was staff even with the amount of mods there were there was still hardly any time to be community involved and then when you focused on making more of a public face there was hardly any time to make the quota.

If a member does nothing then they should be demoted not because they solely focus on achieving the quota because they are still doing their "job"
