Since ARcus' website was RAT'd what stosp anyone from doing the same to RSU or R2P? I dont feel safe buying gold from websites except PA anymore....

 

For one, we don't know if Arcus did it himself or not.

Secondly, I have faith that they take proper precautions.

It takes work to get a RAT on a site.. it's not some easy thing.

 

It wasn't Arcus himself, he was RATted and in turn his website was. There wasn't a breach of defenses of the site, it was simply Arcus being infected by something malicious. Here's more info on it:

Essentially yeah you can say any site is buggy/unsafe, but remember with most Sythe users, you can just add them on MSN and order through that.

 

Actually, this incident was more than just a run of the mill hacking. This is the tail end of a recently leaked exploit for a Java 0-day.

MSN's, Skypes, Gmails, Sythe accounts, Playerauction accounts - Anything can be hacked. Websites are probably still the safest option. It's a risk that you will have to take anytime you purchase gold. Just take your time, if something doesn't feel right ask for a Private Message on Sythe or just don't buy any (Or large amounts) of gold until you feel comfortable.

 

Was everyone affected even refunded?

 

The case is still ongoing - But I assume Arcus will be/has repaid everyone. He has with previous issues before and he is a good guy.

 

I would honestly just say if you don't feel safe ordering from a website, add the user directly on MSN, always ask for a PM & then trade that way.
