Hello, Sythe community! Did you miss me? It's okay, I know you did. Anyway, welcome to the 5th edition of SytheMonthly. April was a really fun month, why don't we get started. Now, SytheMonthly is usually up-beat, and fun. But, I'll have to tell you of a pressing issue...

It was a normal day on Sythe; moderators were modding, spammers were receiving spamming infractions, ban evaders were being banned, and Wulfspade1 was being a god. That's when it happened, A MURDER! Now, you're probably thinking, "what? How can someone murder over the internet?" This was actually done by a company designed to take over the world. They have developed a method called "Alpha Kenny Body," which can make you attack the user behind the designated screen. Here's a .gif of the surveillance I have found against them:



Anyway, I have suspicions that there is someone on Sythe undercover, we'll have to find out who this is...

Hacks

There was a lot of confusion regarding the hackings in April. There was speculation on whether or not our database has been hacked, or it was something else. An update from n4n0 informed us that the hacking has been due to an exploit on MSN's recovery system. Apparently, it's been patched by Microsoft. But, I hope everyone takes the necessary precautions just in case. I'd like to give a BIG hand to n4n0 and Verts who worked hard on ensuring the safety of the users, and to find out what has happened. Of course, I'd like to thank the other staff, as well! Great job, guys! Wait a second... what if n4n0 was the killer, and he was just being undercover... I HAVE TO FIND OUT:

This month has been bountiful for user changes/accomplishments... I'm going to keep on saying this line for the next 50+ SytheMonthly editions.​

A Demotion

Laptop65 --> Laptop65

Laptop65 was promoted on February 24th. Since then, he has been doing a great job! He posted regularly in the Guide sections, and had 80+ hours in the HelpChat. But, recently, he has been demoted. For those who don't know what his demotion reason was, he stated it here: http://www.sythe.org/showthread.php?p=10850669. It was just a simple mistake on Laptop65's part, and I don't think of him any less during this incident. The staff did what they had to do, and I respect that.

Oh, right, I forgot to say why he is a suspect. It's because his name is "Laptop," but he uses a desktop. I don't know what type of SICK human being does this, so he's on the list.



A Resignation

FishFishy was first promoted on December 19th. He was an extremely nice guy, and we all loved him! I still remember him as the normal UE member just posting every now and than. We'll miss you Fishy, we hope you have a great time on whatever you are doing.

...but don't count yourself out just yet! I remember you vouched n4n0 in an "irregular" way!

Pk Frenzyy is a nice user who was very involved in the community! I'm happy she got promoted, I wish her the best of luck in moderation.

Zerkerfist is one of the nicest users on Sythe! He is extremely friendly, and has great/constructive posts. I'm really glad to see he has been promoted, as well. I wish you the best in your moderation, too.

Staff Interview: Karl

So, how did you find Sythe?
Karl: Well, my story starts off like everybody else. As everyone knows, people like the idea of being able to make money out of a game thats pretty easy. I heard about sythe from someone ingame, and I was intrigued and had to know more.. Joining originally on an account called 'I see u skil' All the way back in December 08! I didn't stay around for long though, failing to make any trades, I returned, after forgetting my name, on 'Tainted Fate', Only to then FORGET about that one and returning on 'iGoth', don't laugh.. iGoth was when i started to fall in love with the community aspects of Sythe, and eventually I decided to drop that and finally settle on '.Karl'.. a good 2 years after my original join.

Do you ever feel like you need to loosen up, like maybe kill a person?
Karl: Sometimes... On the surface I remain calm, but inside I feel this urge to express myself with physical emotion, if it has to be inflicted on to somebody else, then so be it.. in that sense, I am selfish.

What are the most significant or defining events in your Sythe history?
Karl: Almost being banned for being framed, almost being banned for a stupid friend using something he shouldn't on a website that my email was associated with, My vader-like behaviour when I joined, Getting staff and head of OGV.. and then I guess the IRCs of the past 2 years.

Do you like chocolates? Candy? The scent of fresh blood hitting your nose?
Karl: I adore chocolate, I actually have about 30 bars of chocolate in my mini fridge.. Candy? Yeah, a lollipop being my favourite..
Blood? Hmm, maybe you already know too much.. I guess it won't matter if I tell you any more. (I can get rid of him later...)

What was a moment in your Sythe career that you hated?
Karl: Probably when users I trusted, etc. Betray that trust and do something terrible, its annoying when these people think that stealing is acceptable. People who have gone over the months have really hurt me, Plznate being an example.

Karl: Undecided as of now, One cannot simply remain global mod forever. I have to make the choice between either theory X or Theory Y.

I always enjoy reading these things. You are a great writer and I like your style of writing and keeping your readers enthralled for the entire post! Great use of humour, and it's always great to see the previous months events summed up for users that may have missed things.

Too bad you are a murderer though.... I was really leaning towards n4n0 being the culprit after those incriminating chat logs you posted!! Can't wait for next months issue already mate, keep up the awesome work! ^_^
