A lot of us has been there. We really get friendly with a girl, ask her to be your girlfriend but she tells us that she just wants to be friends.
When this first happened to me, I was really shy and had trouble talking to women. But after this, I grew some balls and now, I no longer have trouble talking to women or hanging out with them 1:1. Right now, I have multiple women in my phonebook who I could just call and ask to get some dinner, watch a movie or etc.

But the main problem still persists, I have trouble avoiding the friend zone.
A lot of them ask me why I don't have a girlfriend and I want to tell them that it's because women keep putting me in the friend zone. But of course, confidence is key and I just tell them that I don't feel like settling down.

How do I prevent this?
I'd like to actually have a girlfriend, not a friend that's a girl for once.

Ah, the friend zone. One of nature's mysteries.

I agree with the poster above who says that you need to be forward with girls and show them what you want. I know a few guys who are really "friendly" sort of guys, and when they like girls they get very close to them but they never even put a single toe across the line that seperates friendship from romance. What I mean by that, is that they basically become human doormats.. doing nice things for the girls, texting and talking, hanging out etc. but they never end up making a move. There is no flirting, no sparks, no suggestive behaviour and certainly no physical indications that they like the girls. These guys soon ALWAYS fall into the zone where they are just viewed by the girls as close friends, and the girls are often completely clueless that these guys even like them.

So be more forward when you like somebody. Make it obvious and make it clear if you are getting vibes of mutual feelings back from them. Don't wait or sit in the background waiting for something to happen, take the initiative and sweep dem girls off dey feet :)

As always Zerkerfist has great advice and I agree with him.

When you meet a girl you want to be more than friends with, don't be too nice. Like Zerk said don't be the doormat. Be very flirtatious and forward about what you want. Show them you want to be more than friends.

Like everyone has said, you need to be upfront.

The worst thing a girl can say is no and that's all that will happen..
Get in there earlier, don't learn her life story as then ask her out.
Girls are weirdo's and they need to be kept interested. If they know a lot about you and then you ask them out, they feel like they have nothing new to keep them interested, but if you ask them out after a short while they don't know much about you an want to know more which keeps them interested. :D

Also.. Master the art of hugging.

best way to avoid the friend zone- don't give them that option in the first place. when i see a girl im interested in, the way i talk to her lets her know my intentions upfront. that way they never even have an idea that i want to be "just friends"

the friend zone sucks, thats why i dedicated alot of my time and effort into learning the art of how to talk to women. it's helped me tremendously.

The friend zone is placed on you if you hesitate for too long or don't make a move.

You just have to go for it without any regrets. Rejection happens to all of us; you got to learn to come back from it. That's all.

don't be nice to girls, but don't be mean, just treat everyone equally. If you believe being nice to girls means they are obligated to be romantically interested in you, is just manipulative, and that is not a quality of a good person. I guess I had a problem with it like everyone else, but I just learned from my mistakes. Being hesitant ( in the moment ) is just a lack of social confidence, which is undesirable. But the opposite is even worse, going too fast.
