Can new accounts claim expired names?

My friend wants to give me his name. Would I be able to make a new runescape account with his runescape name once it's expired?

 

yes, once 28 days has passed

 

It's like this: your friend changes his name..you create acc then have him change name again..then login and you can set your username..there done..do It quick and don't announce it to snipers

 

After you change your RSN. It will say last known as "X" over your RSN. Once you change it again, after 28 days, it will no longer have last known as "x" but last known as "Y" with your current name being Z.


"x" Will now be available for any account.

"X" "Y" and "Z" being hypothetical runescape names.

On my members I check to see if a name is available and it is but on a new account that's F2P it isn't.

Just like BSGP said, once your friend changes his name you have to wait 28 days. After the time is up, it shouldn't say he was last known as something. Instead, the name will be free for any account to take whether you just made it or have had it for years.

 

You have to be a member to change your name once you've picked one, but if you haven't already picked one, your ok So yes, you can have his name aslong as no-one else takes it

If you already have a display name, you have to be a member to change it. But if you have a new level 3 with no name, you don't need to be a member
