Sotw?

Not 100% sure of how active the Graphics section is but I think it could shed some light onto the section?

Anyway no harm in suggesting it, if not then fair call.

We actually removed the Graphics Battles and SOTW sections later last year as there was just not enough activity to keep them going - there weren't enough active entrants, and each time we begun a competition only 1 or 2 people would end up submitting something.
I do miss them, but they just weren't viable to run anymore

 

That sucks a lot , would you guys ever considering trying to host one more as a one off?

 

For sure we will, very soon. Forum is being upgraded to vb4 at the moment, so we will surely run something after that is implemented. Perhaps a new logo competition or similar (been suggested many times and just a waiting game for admin approval), and the occasional SOTW.

As Alt said, the SOTW's could not be justified by the amount of people who actually entered every week. There were and still are other pressing things to attend to in the graphics section, so feel free to suggest some more for us!

Though I am super keen to get some Graphics Section competitions up and running once we make the jump to VB4! ^_^ Rather than a consistent Sig of the week, we may have one off design competitions which would span all facets of design and art - and potentially with prizes up for grabs!

For now, we wait.

 

Why does that make the new logo not viable? The logo will still be there, even on VB4, wont it?

 

Yes, it will be there.

 

It had a fair amount of entries when Kinaesthic and I were running it, I wouldn't mind if it would be brought back.

 

Graphic competitions are great and all, but creating signatures every week tends to become less fun as time goes on. Why not have different competitions every fortnight or month or something? Such as wallpapers, avatars, icons, logos, tattoos, and signatures. This could allow people who are skilled at other aspects of design to have a chance at winning.

 

That's how we went about doing it last time, it was a pretty decent competition. Again, I wouldn't mind if the competition was returning.

 

We'll definitely consider it when the new VB version is implemented.

 

I do some Graphics, i would certainly also like this to come back if its not too late to say.
