    Definitely one of the few movies I've been waiting for, months in advance. (The Hunger Games being the only other movie in this category.)

    Hopefully it will live up to MY expectation, and be on the same level as the rest of the LOTR series. I have all of them on Dvd chilling under my TV, paid full price (;

    I haven't seen this very commercially advertised...At all, really. Does anyone know if its a low budget film? Would really suck if I waited all this time to see a terrible movie.

    It's not low budget, and has some great names behind it, including Guillermo del Toro the guy behind 'Pans Labyrinth'.

    They are my favorite movies out there. And i will be seeing it as soon as it comes out. I'm glad they made it into 3 series of movies just like the LOTR movies. Just sucks we gotta wait for part 2 next year.

    Can't wait for it's release. Jr Tolkien is a god. I'm a fan of LOTR, and all of Tolken's work.

    Did you know that Tolken has written even prequels to the hobbit, spanning 5-6 trilogies.

    Another fun fact, Tolkien created all the elven/dwarf/etc languages on his own.

    I haven't read the Hobbit in 10 years... lol. Still was the first LOTR book I've ever read and i loved it. Would be a good flash of nostalgia too see a movie of it. I just hope its as good as the trilogy.

    So looking forward to it, although im worried about the third film.

    The first two films are the book split into two parts while the third film is supposed to tie the 80 years between the hobbit and the fellowship of the ring.

    On a side note a bit of random knowledge for you. Tolkien was part of a writers club with C.S. Lewis and other famous writers of the time, and when Tolkien was doing a reading of his work, C.S. Lewis came out with "Oh not another bloody elf!"

    Wow, exact same thoughts. I liked the LOTR 10x more...a lot more dark and serious, but I still loved the Hobbit too. Martin Feeman was hilarious imo. Played his part extremely well....gotta love Smeagol too, hah.

    I will definitely watch it because it looks like it has some very nice scenese, but I feel like they are milking LOFDR too much. Hobit was only made because of the success of LOFDR. Kinda feel like they are running out of ideas and keep making Sequels and Prequels to everything.

    It was good but the 3D let me down. The opening scene made me feel queasy, and I got a lot of glare in my glasses from the step lighting.

    On the contrary, Dredd 3D was amazing in 3D.

    I loved the books. There actually the only ones i ever read lol. So i enjoy and love you movies even more. And yes Smeagol's part was very good and reminded me every part of the book. I'm making sure i buy this movie when it comes on Bluray ^_^

    Not true.. Peter Jackson wanted to release The Hobbit first but he was having problems with someone (forgot his name) so he released LOTR instead. He was always planning on making both the LOTR and The Hobbit movies.

    It takes place 60 years before the LOTR.
